They are not trendy at all but there's something about the design of Warwicks I love. :)

+1

I think what got me into them was Stuart Zender and his Stage 1. Dig the early Jamiroquai and especially his playing. Mind you it's a long time since their first album now lol!

By the way lovely Jazzman, looks superb.

Thanks imbobothy
Well Warwick came back very quick with the following details

produced:
2000-04-07 here at Warwick Headquarter in Markneukirchen / Germany

Description:
Streamer, 4-string
Natural High Polish finish
Swamp Ash/Bubinga pommele top body
Ovangkol neck
Gold hardware

Think they forgot the birdseye bits on the fretboard and bits in the neck

My Streamer Jazzman. I know hardly anything about it really.I was told on the Warwick forums this is possibly one of the very first Custom shop basses made. They were apparently around the shows like NAMM etc showing what they could do. I have no paper work of any kind with it i would like to know more so if anyone knows anything about it. Let me know. I've had it years now bought it off some guy on ebay for a stupidly low price (which was unbelievable and i'm still shocked). Im guessing its an ash body. AAA Birdseye neck and the top i'm not sure

[/quote] When I asked about mine Hans said the mother of pearl truss rod cover was something they did for the special order custom shop editions right at the start... my 1985 custom shop bass, made in West Germany, may predate yours! :D

Stunning! Unusual grain for bubinga, I love it!

Not entirely sure when the 'Custom Shop' started. All basses were handbuilt to order for many years, so technically they were all Custom Shop. Mass production started mid-late nineties after the move to markneukirchen. 2000 was the start of the 'Modern Era' as you could call it, so maybe that is what the guy at Namm meant.

Can we see a close up of the neck? Looks standard 3 piece flamed maple from the pictures but your description ( and the Warwick info) says otherwise!

Swamp Ash/Bubinga pommele top body
Ovangkol neck

IMHO an office temp at Warwick answers emails... at least I hope it isn't an 'actual' knowledgeable employee!

The top could be Bubinga but I have a feeling it is otherwise... but for the sake of argument I'll concede. However, the neck is maple CATEGORICALLY not Ovankol!

I've seen plenty of those Warwick email replies and I'd say greater than 50% had a major mistake in them; they generally get the year and month of manufacture right but to be fair I could provide that info (with greater accuracy) as it is part of the serial number you will have provided them with. ;)

Nice bass mind.

It looks more like cocobolo to me.

What is the serial? If it is a 2000, the serial checker should have the details:- http://www.warwickbass.com/en/Framus---Support--Serial-Number.html#current_site_id

Agree with the Cocobolo and I bet if you put the serial # in it will throw out the detail further up the thread. ;)

Agree, some of the email specs from Warwick HQ can be a bit suspect. They told me 1990 Thumb NT6 had SD basslines as stock, though from a previous owner I know they were actually after-market replacements for the stock Bartolinis!

Amazing Jazzman, though. That combination of woods is positively sexy!

Almost certainly, but it still would be a first for me in so far as I have never found the serial checker to be inaccurate much, or certainly not to the extent of getting the neck wood entirely wrong. The Warwick staff however, absolutely!

To be honest I wouldn't know ovangkol if it hit me in the face. When I said the custom shop I was meaning when the really started separate things with custom shop/pro series/rock bass stuff I know they did plenty of custom stuff before that. But they seemed to follow Fender in the custom shop, in doing it more openly commercial.

As for this bass I entered the serial in the website link and got exactly the same result as the email from Warwick. With that here are some Photo's of the neck as requested. To me it looks like flame maple in the middle with birds eye either side. I do appreciate all the help with it guys thanks.

I would as I've been touching it daily for the last 12/13 years since I got my Warwick - that is certainly not it (It's dark, grainy & non-laquered). The light bits are obviously flamed/birdseye maple as others have said & I think Warwick call the dark bits in the middle Ekenga (or something like that).

It's a really nice looking bass - another user on here (can't remember who) had a custom shop made in very similar styling, the dark wood tops with maple fingerboards just look pure class to me.

The ekanga (black thin) veneers between the neck lamination's and top and body were only being used from about 2000 onwards.

It is certainly Ash back, birdseye maple neck and board and the top? Could be Bubinga pomelle, Cocobolo another good call.

Well, now I've finally finished up the polishing after this one was lacquered back in November, I can finally show some pics of it!
