The BtW guys rave about the four and the five. Six review coming shortly. 'Best bass Ibanez has ever made' is quite the statement given they've probably made more models (and maybe actual basses) then anyone else!

I do like the channel. I do wonder with review channels how honest they really are. Not stating they are I just think they go through ALOT of things.

Yeaaaah these aren't for me. I know I'm not the only one but thats too many knobs for me, plus the jazz bass knockoff shape looks off, feels like they've made concessions to the shape to accomodate them extra frets. Also the balance looks like it'll be crap

They look like the groovline models from a few years ago following plastic surgery.

There are elements of Sadowsky, Alpher and dare I say it…Cort GB.

There’s nowt there for me.

Anyhow…

it's kinda rare if the BtW guys don't absolutely rave about something...

The basses look really good and Nate's video is a good demo of the tones. My immediate thought as soon as I saw these models is that the leg rest cut-out is quite a long way back toward the bridge and, with a 'full size' headstock, it will neck-dive.

Comparing the leg cutout with my Sei Jazz and Squier Jazz 5-strings, it looks to be in about the same position, it's just that there's more of a cutaway on the bottom horn. The top horn is above the 12th fret too, so balance should be as good as instruments with bloody great lumps of wood with metal on at the end of the neck is ever going to be. Sensibly they've gone with a 34" scale.

The six knob design makes sense as it caters to the passive-only luddites by having a V/B/T with active/passive switch at the front, then a three band EQ with mid switching at the rear for those of us who like a bit more tone shaping.

I thought exactly the same but not quite as extreme in the offset. So maybe that rare instance of successful plastic surgery?

I think Gregor has mentioned that he sold basses for a living so I think he knows his stuff.

And, to be fair, they probably avoid reviewing something they don't like at all. I have seen them be critical of fit and features - recently getting a spec changed on a bass which they then re-reviewed.

Worth having a go on one if they get one in?

These look amazing to me. The fact that I'm a fan of 47mm nut width and 19mm bridge spacing means I'll stick with my current Jazz 5 string (for now)

Fair enough... but just have a listen to the J-tones on offer:

These look like a lot of bass for the money. It would be interesting to try them side by side with some much more expensive boutique brand Super-Jazz style basses and see how they measure up. That midrange circuit reminds me a bit of the Sadowsky Will Lee preamp, and it would certainly serve the same purpose.

I bet these will be very useful basses, and the price-point is pretty accessible. Providing they don't weigh a ton, I think these basses are going to be very popular.

I know I've posted most of the Internet in this thread now but here's a good one on the details and design philosophy of the the Mode - they're light! As well as other new basses from Ibanez. That white finish is gorgeous!

The guy doesn't know what the switch does, says it affects the entire frequency spectrum but it's a 3 way mid switch. Interestingly configurable between two presets so 6 to pick from in total.

Although they look great I don't like the marketing stuff (especially when he gets other details wrong) about how the body shape was designed from the ground up, it's a tweaked Cort GB and even nicks the scratchplate from that bass.

Love the signature 'Jaco' bridge pickup sound Guy Bernfield is getting out of that Mode. I'd definitely like to try one out. This is definitely the first truly interesting Ibanez since they originally launched the EHBs.

Ibanez obviously do pretty well with their massive range generally, but these Mode basses are a pure case of, "If you can't beat 'em, join them!"

I think their rep had shown them some the range, but don't think they actually stock them - yet.
