Anyone got more info about that rather fetching Peavey Unity? Google seems to not return much but apparently they're very nice basses indeed - £350 for a USA-made neck-thru in a very very snazzy gun metal grey colour seems like an absolute steal.

Has anyone dealt with them before? I asked them a perfectly reasonable question and got short shrift. Just wondering if I've caught them on an off-day...?

I bought a super light (sub 8 pound) CIJ 60s P bass from them in 2024 and all was fine then. Bass as described, arrived quickly etc. I asked the proprietor to double check weight (having been stung before on inaccurately measured weights, including on BC....) and he reconfirmed. Man of few words, if I recall, but the bass was nice!

I think I remember reading (on here possibly?) that he is a one man band, with limited space (so no drop-ins),and health issues that make  everything a bit more difficult...

I bought a bass from him last year. Transaction was fine - not a great deal of communication but the bass was packed well and arrived promptly. The setup he had done was very good too. He's a tad pricier than Bass Bros or Bass Direct but those reductions more or less bring him in line with them.

I also bought a lovely bass this year from Fender Fever and I echo the comments directly above. Transaction was easy and the bass came well packaged and the setup was amazing. I'd also contacted them on another subject to enquire about getting me a bass and I had a super quick and helpful reply back. I would happily without hesitation buy from Fender Fever again.

I’d say that’s a great deal myself, I’ve been tempted a few times to get one of those but I’ve got quite a few precisions, they look great, I think @wateroftyne had one

I think I'll go for it. I had a MIJ Precision roughly that age and it was really good. I reckon I'll like the Jazz neck on this one, and the weight, and the look. 

 

I usually prefer a J neck and tone (slightly more dubby), but I like the body shape of P basses and the simple controls and they are often lighter, and suppose a bit of EQ on the amp can go a long way to getting that dubby tone.

I would ask the guy to double check the photos and description on that one as it says it has a black pickguard mod yet pics show tort

Interesting. Wonder if hes the same guy who imported all those CIJ's back in the mid 2000's, as you rarely see them for sale.. and to have so many?

I bought a bass off him a few years back and picked it up in person seeing as I'm only up the road from him. He's a nice guy and I played a few other basses while there. Just to echo what a few others have said, the bass was superbly setup. Probably the nicest setup I've ever had and a few mates who played the bass said they were impressed by it too.
