There's a good chance that I'll be free to attend this, if no-one would mind me dropping in. It appears that there might be a chance to discuss EUB technique, so I could bring mine. Or a DB, but probably not both.

If EUB technique is different to DB technique, then I would be interested in that (because I am more likely to buy an EUB than a DB, but less likely to find a teacher specifically for that instrument).

I suppose it would depend; an EUB could be anything from what is essentially a bass guitar placed upright on a stand to a double bass with no body, perhaps free standing, leaning against the player or even on a strap.
The only ones I've tried are my current one (a DB stand-in with 41.5" scale) and a 5-string BG-on-a-stand with 38" scale which I had years ago but sold.
In both cases I was able to find a DB teacher willing to assist me.
My guess is that the Stagg bass being discussed on the other thread is very much like a DB. As it happens, a BG player who comes to the local jam told me he'd got one and was having lessons from a good pro teacher nearby.

We have two rooms here, one with a little stage. 

 

We're putting on the timed stuff on the staged area (see post #1); it's feasible that you could do something in the second room, but obviously there's no guarantee of an audience, given the crossover in the main room.

Speaking as someone who has brought everything to a bash, I would advise that you don't - be editorial and try to bring what you think will be interesting.  I will be bringing 6 of my 14 basses, with another 4 or so which I will bring if anyone asks.

Speaking as someone who has transported all @neepheid's basses to a bash, I would concur with his assessment of "Don't bring everything".

 

The one very small advantage of bringing everything, including a full top box, is that when you do pop into a rather decent guitar shop in Birmingham for the first time in nine months, you are limited to only buying anything smaller than a box of matches as there is simply no space for anything larger, thereby saving money. I'm not bitter about this at all. Nope, it's not a problem at all, it's all behind me now.

As mentioned earlier, just bring a few (interesting) bits.  Edging on the side of reason, people would be far more engaged in something different, rather than another Precision or Jazz.

 

Also, it's a village hall, not the O2.  😏

Would people be interested in my 3d printed headless bass? Does that class as 'interesting' or 'different'? I'm not precious if people say "no"....<sob>

 

Whilst I'm not coming, I may be able to convince @neepheid to fit it into his Tardis.

Those 3d printed guitars are a work of art. More of the world needs to see them.

 

On the other hand, without you there to explain the history and the various stages and prototypes, it won't be the same. That was about as interesting as seeing the guitars themselves.

So, how do we identify ourselves?

 

Do we wear lanyards with both our pseudonym and our real name on it? Do we have a cut-out of our basschat icon, worn as a mask - and then remove them when the organising committee start to play the basschat theme song?

 

Uncannily, my real name is not bass_dinger, and I only spoke with Prowla and Hamster two years ago - so, I am wondering how I will make myself known as Robert.

We'll be issuing everyone with a sticker like this.  Just put your Basschat username/real name on it.  This will allow you exit/access.
