It occurred to me I had no idea who was playing bass on some of my favourite records. by my suprise I found out it was Marcus Miller. Thing is he's so under the radar session wise, you would never know it was him playing and in his session days that's what made him great. He just played it for the record.

 

There are 500 albums out there of Marcus's playing. Please share if you know. ?

 

One of my favourite Jazz funk records. Its utter magic and his bass playing is just.🔥

He’s not that under the radar ! The pesky rascal snuck into my house and scrawled his name on my Sire v7!

I don't like his solo work, but as a sideman he plays the right notes. 

I'm not a huge fan of his slap all of the time.  3 Deuces is fantastic. Thankyou I will check those out.

I first heard Marcus on that Dave Grusin album, 'Mountain Dance', back in 1979. About that time, I also heard him on 'Streamline' by Lenny White:
