tinyd Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago What's funny is that the music she's miming to is shite anyway so it's hard to get too upset about it IMO Quote
Woodinblack Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago She isn't trying to fool anyone, she is just air guitaring along to some music, as people have done for years. Is he going to get outraged at the air guitar competitions they have next? I mean I wouldn't watch her videos but she certainly isn't as irritating as watching Danny Sapko! 1 Quote

There’s one crucial detail which differentiates this from someone playing air guitar… 2 1 Quote

OK, I suspect I must have missed something by scrolling through the bits with Danny in them, in which case appologies, I will see if there is a transcript available! 1 Quote
Cato Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Even someone who's never played must be able to see that when she's hitting the strings has no correlation with the timing of the notes in the background music. Seems daft to get annoyed at someone who doesn't seem to be trying very hard to deceive anyone. Unless there's a previously unknown massive audience for 1980s Spanish package holiday hotel bar background music I imagine most of her followers probably aren't that interested in her musical skills anyway. Beer of the Bass Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I will admit I only skimmed through the Sapko video, but IDK how comparable her situation is to Turro. Yes, she has social media followers, but he was getting gear deals and trade show appearances, and selling tabs - does she have anything like that depth of success through fakery or is Mr Sapko just reaching a little? Quote
Woodinblack Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I read the transcripts, and sorry, still can't see it. I watched the parts of the videos of her in them, and she is clearly just miming along to the videos, and it is very obvious. if people believe that she is playing anything then they are probably idiots, or so far away from being able to make any music that I don't see anyone is losing anything. Compared to half the shit on youtube that actually matters, I think its pretty harmless. What do we expect from youtube and user generated content? Someone I know believes all the stuff he sees on youtube and parrots it with a pasion and a claritiy that I have never had about anything, about how much money the nhs was going to get from brexit, how russia was wronged by the west, how vaxines change your DNA and global warming is a hoax by big science etc - that stuff has consequences, this is some girl who has worked out how to make a few quid from people who want to watch her. I really don't understand how anyone can get annoyed about that? 1 Quote

Reggaebass Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I think many people wouldn’t know that she’s not actually playing those lines, I’ve got miss reggae lots of times with this old trick 😁 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago As some of you missed it (distracted?) she's selling a course on how to play the guitar: "Original Audio" "I love how you played guitar" "You rocked it" And crap or not, it's other people's music and they aren't being credited. 2 1 Quote

Skinnyman Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It seems like YT and Insta and all the others these days are just this incestuous circle of “influencers” calling each other out and getting artificially outraged for some perceived infraction or other. Grifters the lot of ‘em. People around the world are dying in conflicts, children are starving and none of this sh*t matters one iota. None of it is worth the server space it takes up. Quote

None of it is worth the server space it takes up. It gives them a sense of purpose and it does influence a lot of people to take up worthwhile activities. I mean we could moan all we like about people pretending to play an instrument, but if a handful of people are inspired to pick up an instrument, then that's quite worthwhile. Quote
Dood Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago You don't have to have talent to win on social media, but it helps if you have the body for it. They should just rename it thirsttrapagram and be done with it. 1 Quote

But then they don't know what a fantastic guitarist is - I have played with some remarkably sub par guitarists and after a gig they will get people saying how good they are - I don't know how peoples heads work. Even if she was playing those things she would be terrible! 26 minutes ago, Stub Mandrel said: As some of you missed it (distracted?) she's selling a course on how to play the guitar: Well, and you get emails all the time saying buy this latest thing, with some flashy website that when I do a search goes to aliexpress, as you know full well. You can't stop stupid on an open web and I think we are not going to get an offtube! Quote

Fair enough, I did just skim the Sapko video, I find his quirky youtuber personality schtick grating. Edited 1 hour ago by Beer of the Bass Quote
