*PRICE DROP* £2250
 

Bought new by my stepfather in '73 and was used for a few years. Since then, it has sat in storage for over 40 years. I have recently spent £300 having the amp serviced and a new power socket fitted etc. Below is a list of the works carried out:

- Four main power filter capacitors have been replaced due to leakage and corrosion.

- Several smaller electrolytic capacitors have been replaced due to leakage and falling out of tolerance.

- The two smoothing capacitors on the rectification stage have been replaced due to failure.

- One control knob was replaced as it had cracked and fallen apart.

- A number of resistors have been replaced due to falling out of tolerance and/or showing visible signs of heat wear.


The shop can also be contacted to discuss the work carried out if you require, Dex is happy to talk through. If you search Dex Audio in Stroud, you will be able to find the contact for the shop.

Dex has had the amp running for over 48 hours with no noise but as this amp has not been used for so long, there may be some minor servicing required on it as you continue to use it.


The amp is in original condition apart from the parts for servicing. Any questions, please get in touch. 
 

EDIT: I have since been informed that this amp is quite a bit rarer than I thought. The circuit board is point to point and the output transformer is a Dagnall C2373; both of which I have been told are very desirable! 

 

Cash only, I am not interested in any trades. Collection from Stroud or I am willing to meet within a reasonable distance.

Beautiful. We used to use boot polish to get the tolex looking as good as possible.

 

I reckon you’d be best off selling in commission at a vintage dealer, I’ve found this the best way to safely engage a global market and get the best price.

In your defence, they are very, very nice indeed.

 

If only I played in a band, had some gigs lined up, failed biology 'O' level, had a cabinet to drive and had not already sacrificed a kidney I'd love this. 

 

In all seriousness, this is utterly gorgeous. I'd love to be on stage and have this behind me. Unless I was at Wembley, I'd have the quiet satisfaction that I wasn't going be ignored and lost in the mix.

These just look so cool - oozing rock’n’roll attitude. My first bass amp was the 50 watt version in ‘76. I’d concur with the vintage dealer idea - many guitarists love these and prefer them to the dedicated guitar version

Yes that’s because few guitards can read and they don’t spot the word “bass” after “super”. It takes a bass player to see these things, leave them to their stacking cups and paw patrol cartoons

My son used my mid 60’s version jumped as his guitar amp for a few years 🙂

I had one of these as my first amp. I was young and had no idea what I had so I traded it for a sh*ty Lany combo in the early 90s. If I had the space and any way to use it I'd probably get this, but it's just not an option. GLWTS and I hope this goes to someone who can enjoy it.

I had one of these in late 70s early 80s along with a 2x15 Marshall cab. Fabulous sound cranked up, especially with a Ric. Sold the amp and cab for £300 about 15 years ago and bought a digital camera with the proceeds, which is probably now worth £1.50! What a plonker was I!

Bass rigs take lousy photos, mind. Even vintage valve ones.

GLWTS, these things are awesome. I wasn't able to get anywhere near this price for my 1980-made one but hopefully the market has picked up in the last few years.

I have a '68 Super Bass, I can attest to it's extraordinary tone! My ole P bass sounds wonderful through it. I had no idea they were fetching such prices until I looked them up, not that mine is going anywhere mind :)

I was going to make this point too. I used to have an old Park valve head which was designed for bass but was bought off me by a guitarist who reckoned it was the beat amp he'd ever played though. I assume this is why the original Fender Bassman amps are so popular with guitarists too.
