Why Orange?

Has anyone noticed that a lot of music gear related sites have orange logos? Reverb: orange. Guitarguitar: orange: Wunjo's: orange. Basschat: orange.

I think it's like how lots of food places are red or green, which your lizard brain is supposed to associate with food.

What do people reckon?

Or maybe its just coincidence.

Back in the 1970s, everything seemed to be orange - cars, domestic stuff, etc, etc. I read somewhere it's reckoned to be a "buy me" colour (how true that is is anyone's guess). In Ian Dury's immortal lines:

"Another thing that blockheads seem to acquire is black and orange cars.

Premature ejaculation drivers, their soft top's got roll bars".

A lot of music shops use the colour orange in their logos etc as neurological research has found that orange stimulates the same receptors in the brain as hearing music you enjoy and purchasing items, among other enjoyable things, releasing endorphins that give you that warm fuzzy feeling.

Further research found that some people will believe anything they read online.

When I've done stuff on the railway in the past, the overalls and hi viz kit is always orange, I assume it's  because you couldn't mistake it for anything other that Red, ie danger, stop.  Plus of course it's "highly visible"

Yellow hi viz particularly if soiled might possibly be confused with green.

Just a theory.

Yellow works best for selling offers. Look at magazine offers, price reductions etc.

Orange + monochrome was a whole theme for advertising 20 years  ago (led by Orange telecom but many others followed).

It's amazing how advertising does show so much 'clumping'.

Do they still do Oranjeboom lager?

They had a terrible tv advert for it in the 70s / 80s with a cheesy tune lifted from some other programme ..

Eye Level, by the Simon Park Orchestra, the theme from Van Der Valk. I heard it on the radio the other day.

Just arrived, my Fender Mike Kerr bass in Tiggar Orange.

Lovely bass with a JMJ neck , Jag body (better suited to my "portly frame" than a Mustang) enormous Humbuckers and fancy Barbie gold hardware.

Really pleased.

Not tempted to paint the back Tigger stripes on it then? 😁

While I like the tone of Orange amps (I have three) I have to admit the colour played a part in my purchasing decisions. I'm currently wearing an orange checked work shirt too. Unsure what my lizard brain associates it with, but I love the colour.
