Well someone had to start it, so I thought why not me?! Seeing as the reason why I picked up the bass in the first place - Duff McKagan - will be playing with GN’R, I will be watching at  least that performance!

I saw Slash's band there several years ago and was really disappointed. They played far too many GNR songs and it was just like seeing a covers band play the pyramid stage.

If I was there this year I'd be seeing Skindred, The Damned, Viagra Boys and QOTSA and just spend the rest of the weekend wandering around just watching random stuff, drinking poor quality, warm beer, sampling different food and confusing people who have had too many psychedelic drugs.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm getting a taxi at 4:20 tomorrow morning to head to my mates house in Midsomer Norton, so we can leave there by 5, and then I can set the tent up and my wife is coming on Thursday after handing childcare over to the grandparents! Baby free weekend!

Not got a lot starred in the app so far. Need to have a proper browse with my breakfast apple juice (cider) after getting set up.

Any other basschatters attending?

Tell the drive to turn the radio down when coming through Paulton!
Enjoy the cider and the music. I have dreadful Glastonbury envy this year apparently that’s down to the Elton effect.

Reminds me of what we said about the closest villages/all of Swindon when I was growing up!

I remember an article in the Daily Sport (a fine publication) which said that a tower block in Swindon had the highest rate on inbreeding in the country.

Anyway, back on topic. The helicopters have started going back and forth to the festival. About one every half hour today. By Friday it'll be three or four times that many at least. Very environmentally friendly.

Have a great time....

Looks like my idea of hell though (camping.... with....people....)

I've done it once, but I had private backstage camping and showers/food as I was stage crew on the Acoustic Stage. That's the ONLY way I'd go....

Anyone at Glastonbury who wants to learn how to play the didjeridu or just have a go, head on over to Toad Hall, Green Fields on:

  • Thursday @ 11am,
  • Friday @ 11am, or
  • Saturday @ 11.15am,

Where my mate, Sandy will be doing a Didjeridu workshop and performance. Sanitised didjes are provided, and all ages, abilities and aspirations are welcome.

Well recommended - Tell him I sent you!

My old neighbour learned to play the didgeridoo at Glastonbury. Maybe it was the same person who taught him. We enjoyed him practicing in his garden in the evening for a while but after three weeks of two hours every evening it lost its appeal

I'm almost triggered by the poor setting up of some of the tents on show...

Looking forward to the terrible BBC coverage of the festival.

One right in front of me doesn't have the top sheet secured properly. Looks a bit like it might just fly away!

Likewise. I've done it three times but as crew/tech for bands.

I just realised Elton is at Glastonbury and Dave Grohl is there as well. Both of them have played on Queens Of The Stone Age records so I wonder whether either will join QOTSA on stage on Sunday evening.

Read an interview with David Furnish this morning where he mentioned that Elton is going to be bringing a couple of special guests out for his Glasto set.

No hint as to who though.

I'll put a fiver on it not being Axl Rose. Elton is a bit of a fan of noisier rock music though.

I'll guess Dave Grohl will be one of Eltons guests.

You've just given me a flash back to this.

For the benefit of the unitiated Mr Rose only comes on for the heavy bit and they only sing together over the very last lines, but it's it's not beyond the realms of possiblity that Elton could assemble enough of the original personel to recreate it.....
