Skezza Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) Bass Collection active 5 string from 1991 WAS £300 THEN £280 NOW £260 NOW £260 ANY GUITAR OR BASS RELATED TRADE CONSIDERED I have owned this since 2000 and done loads of gigs with it. At one time I had 4 bass collection 5 stringers and 1 bass collection passive 4 string Its a brilliant guitar and is in good condition no real damage and everything works as it should. Of the 4 active bass collections I have owned they all had different preamps but this was by far the best one. I think 1991 was the first year of manufacture. I have bad arthritis in my hands and struggle to play a 34inch 5 string. I am currently gigging with a passive 4 string 30inch Nordstrand Acinonyx. It does not come with any bag or case so I will not be posting it. The strap buttons are part of my straplock system so these will be replaced with the originals Edited December 3, 2023 by Skezza price reduction 10
Sparky Mark Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 This looks like an amazing bargain type bump. A Japanese classic for budget bass money.
TheGreek Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I've seen a few for sale recently...all significantly more. New mantra...I don't need another fiver....
Raslee Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Really fantastic basses! Also following that mantra ‘don’t need another 5’ 😂 1
pete.young Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Sorry to hear about the arthritis, hope you find a way to manage it. Have a free bump on me.
NoirBass Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 (edited) I used to have one of these back in the day - Great basses! Forgive me for pointing it out, but aren’t the windings on the B and G strings round the posts the wrong way? Edited March 16, 2023 by NoirBass 1

No, they are the 'right' way - the B and G machine heads are reversed, so the B turns in the same direction to tighten the string as the E and the A, and the G in the same direction as the D. And vice versa to loosen. Also the pull is slightly straighter. 1

I thought the same thing but a search for original brochure photos and every other photo I could find shows the B and G windings the same as this one.

mattbass6 Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 I love these basses. I may have a project coming up soon that requires a 5 string. If it happens, and this bass is still here, I’ll be in touch.
bubinga5 Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) I had one of these in Pink. What a bass it was . These are the real deal. Gotoh tuners made in Japan.......amazing what quality you can get for £300. As good as any TRB Japan made bass.. Edited September 16, 2023 by bubinga5
meesterbassman Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I’ve got a Hartke Hydrive 15 (fairly light for a 500W and on castors) that would be a straight swap. Or a barefaced compact 15 with cover but that’s £400 Also a Hofner BB in hard case for similar price.
