4000 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Isnāt everything, to some degree?Ā I donāt think I ever expect to like, or expect to dislike, something Ive never heard before. Whatever it is, I try to at least approach it with an open mind.Ā Ā I will say the first time I heard them, in my early teens, I struggled with them. The album was Relayer. I was however a big Genesis fan so they werenāt too far removed. However when I revisited them a few years later the penny dropped, and then some. Theyāre now probably my favourite band, and a Relayer is one of my favourite albums.Ā 2 Quote

I'm very partial to some prog, but Yes just don't do it for me. They sound like a band trying hard to sound like somebody else, but failing...it's the only way I can describe it. When I first heard Jon (see above) I was surprisedĀ by the pitch and the accent, but heās becomeĀ one of my all time favourite vocalists. Geddy, not so much, although I do like Rush. š Quote

4000 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 As above, it really doesnāt matter if you donāt like or donāt get them. Using your Werewolves thread as an example, I absolutely detest that record. Detest it. Canāt stand Warren Zevon generally.Ā But so what? Should that have any bearing on whether someone else likes him? No. You shouldnāt be expected to like,Ā or feelĀ obliged toĀ like anything. Respect it, maybe. But not actually like.Ā 4 1 Quote

karlfer Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Yessongs, the triple album, is still my favourite musical performance after all these years. The epitome of what 5 different musicians can bring together. This is not an opinion, this is factĀ š 8 Quote
