NBD - Status Retro GP

Recommended Posts

Having sold some gear and cleared a couple of things off - I’d hoped to get a Status Groove from these very pages.

Typically - it’d sold about 4 hours before my gear had been paid for.

“Oh well, they drop up from time to time - will have a mooch on Facebook marketplace...”

I saw this.

Hours later, a deal was struck.

It was our very own @Geddys nose who I’ve dealt with before.

tis very good.

Stunner!

Was originally built for James Stelfox of Starsailor...it’s had an East Pre fitted now, so once i’ve sorted new batteries (currently only in passive mode) it will come alive.8E95CFF2-C920-4B84-93C6-D53BD2DE50AA.jpeg.18e660d7d5f26d296e88a083f91599a8.jpeg

I had the GP Vintage Artist some years ago ... one of the few basses I genuinely regret selling.

Those things are bloody lovely.

Nice! Did you end up being able to keep your blue PJ or did that go?

An exceptionally cool bass - I like this a lot and the 2TS really suits the body shape in my view

Need to get a small washer and nut for the switch - don’t like how it moves without them and can only anticipate breakage if it’s not sorted:

Have e-Mailed @John-E-Retro to see if I can buy some.

It was mine Andy, as soon as you mentioned James, I remembered picking it up from him in Warrington, he gave me two excellent CDs of his then current band. I tried it in his home studio.

My memory is worrying me!

I sold it cos I was skint, it didn't have the East then.

Wonderful bass you lucky guy 😜

To go on the outside?

Yeah. It’s wobbling at the moment and that makes me unhappy

You’re always very welcome. Beautiful bass with some serious provenance and history. Gorgeous burst too (and those Status J necks are out if this world!)

Anyone else up for a "how many different pickguards will Andy have made for this" sweepstake?

Bonus points if you guess what he ends up with...

Very cool bass, I bet it sounds lush.

I was watching and learning 'Kiss and Tell' last night with the maestro himself.

You're a lucky lad😊

The one with knobs 😂

In all honesty - no clue, meant to look it up, but it sounded good from when I put the batteries in so didn’t need to read up.

It’s

Vol/Blend/stack bass&treb/tone control

active passive switch separate.

I've been so jealous, I've been unable to comment until now...that looks ( and presumably sounds) one hell of a bass!😍
