Just found out. I can't believe I have a sei bass AND it's got a name.

I've had it for 4 days and I've yet to put it down ;)[/quote]

Were you by any chance playing that the other Friday when Paul Turner was in the Gallery? I was downstairs and heard some wonderful fretless playing....

Kevin. From Scotland. Sei.

Stands a high chance you mean Kevin Lindsay. I think he is a member on here.

Thanks - it's my favourite too! ;-)

The thing with Sei Basses is that they're all brilliant instruments but incredibly individual. I love the looks of all of them, but it's the fact that your Sei has been made for you that makes it that little bit more special. I had a noodle on the Oil-slick bass while Martin was making the final adjustments to mine, and it's a lovely instrument and oozes quality but it doesn't quite do it for me in the way that my bass does, and in the same way I doubt that my Sei would be quite what the owner of the Oil-slick was after....

Absolute heaven I'd imagine; no one man should be in possession of two Seis (never mind me, I'm a jealous b****x :) That flamboyant looks brand spanking new by the way. I never posted my one come to think of it.

Et voila-

Oh, and if anyone here is thinking of moving on one of their five strings and fancies a trade, drop me a pm.

Jay.

This is my Sei/Mcintyre 5 string Jazz, nearly chnage this a while back for a very similar 5 string Jazz with a J-retro, but couldn't go through with it, this bass is ther nuts, plays soooo nice and looks great, so it's gonna have a J-retro in the new year!

My white Sei Jazz has been very busy of late, is now without scratch plate, felt like a change, I think I may send it off to get a tort' version cut, but also may have it back on for the next few gigs, got a break after this weekend, so may get it done after that!

Still wanting a new pre, can't decide if I wanna keep the coil taps, may just have the bridge p/up tapable and eventually would like to sample the delights of Nordstrand

Nice pic Tony - no idea if this is helpful but I'm really happy with the way the Glokenklang pre in my new Sei Jazz sounds in combo with a pair of Nordy jazz pups - have a look/listen here:

I've been getting some really sweet bridge pup tones too, I think I've found the sweet spot, so I'll try and record those soon as well - but I think this vid gives you a decent idea of the range of tones.

Thx Mike, will certainley consder that when I get round to making the change, can't play the clip it yet cos I'm sat in a quiet office, the sound of a bass guitar from my laptop will probably turn a few heads!

Getting the time to make the change is going to be difficult as we are very busy right now with gigs and rehersals, all good fun!

My daughter took the photo above, I've done a lot of band photography over the years and am taking a break now as I'm back playing in a band (no time left!) so she's taking up where I left off, hoping she will tie it in with her 2nd year visual arts course at uni next year.

UPDATE - My Sei will today become paired with a new fretless, a Pedulla Pentabuz! Should be waiting for me when I get home from work, took a few weeks for this to happen and it's all thanks to eubassix (Dave) who went out of his way to broker a deal between me and a guy in the NE. It will get it's first outing tonight at rehersal and then will make it's first live appearance tomorrow night if all goes to plan! Then we have a nice gig at Moho in manchester on Sunday night

Cheers

Tony
