Wal definitely do NOT supply their bespoke parts to any other manufacturer or private buyer

A couple of years ago I had the '82 Wal MK 1 Custom from Beedster that had been previously butchered by someone who had fitted Jazz pickups and a generic active circuit fully restored to original spec by Wal.  Which they did, being the great guys they are, but took some persuading and only agreed as it was evidently a genuine old Wal bass

A couple of years ago is not quite 1980 when this bass was built. Things could have been very different 30+ years ago and besides, Carl Thompson is no ordinary luthier...

And the stripped back Wal body sans pickups, bridge, tronics ( and painted finish) that was on eBay the other week.

Buying a Wal AND a CT only to trash one and damage the other seems an expensive waste of time to !e.

The sort of person who would want a CT bass with Wal electronics probably doesn't have a problem with the cost involved. Besides a Wal could have been picked up very cheaply 20 years ago.
