My last fling.

Absolutely excellent and beautiful condition, balanced warm tone. Weight 4.3kg. I’ve left the mirror scratchplate on, simple to put the original back.

Link to full info, so no bull.

I understand what you mean now. Being a Precision player I’m not too much up on Stingrays, thought I’d give one a go before packing it in. I advertised this for what I paid for it. There’s no modifications to woodwork etc, it’s perfect. It must be a Stingray 4 or whatever you call it. Sorry if I mislead with ignorance, there was/is no pulling the wool over eyes on this site!, Im not like that anyway. I’ll knock £100 off now to £1225

Actually it's not a standard body coz it's string through....

It must be a reshaped Classic - probably the Shuker one posted above

Below is a response from Musicman in Obispo USA. I cannot copy and paste the email because of sole use of the intended recipient

Thanks for the interest in Music Man! We have done some small runs for distributors including Strings & Things UK.

Hi,
Can you tell me if Ernie Ball Musicman made a Stingray with through body stringing and CONTOURED. It’s a recent model.
Reply appreciated please.
Many thanks

tbh chaps i feel a little sorry for the seller.  This is a high end stingray as is indicated by the neck wood, through strung classic bridge.  If it has been modded by shuka its all the better for it and a lovely job. Surely some of the discussion could have been done by pm rather out on the marketplace?   The serial number will of course indicate the original spec, but as long as its a real musicman..it is what he says.

Its a lovely looking classic ray with (possibly) choice mods,  whats not to like. glwts.

I guess I could have sent my query via PM but I figured it was information prospective buyers needed to have. It wasn’t my intention to cause the seller to adjust his price. For what it’s worth, I think the body modifications make the bass more desirable (though there will be some who disagree) as I find slab bodies uncomfortable.

I’m sure that whoever buys this will be very happy with it.

Indeed - these are fantastic basses. The tweak of the slab body to tummy cut/ elbow contour only makes it more desirable I think (and of course Shuker is a top notch choice for the mod).

Very classy bass. They have astonishing necks and the two band pre is extraordinarily versatile. I had one that could go from really sweet and useable edgy stingray tones to Chic to deep P dark low middy thump with a twist of the tone knob. GLWTS!

To my eye your bass is the modified Shuker one... but as has been said the modifications won't impact the value, they will perhaps widen the target audience though! We've all bought things in the past that we didn't know had a 'history', you've just lucked out here as the history of this bass is a top notch mod by one of the better builders out there!

It definitely looks like the modded Shuker one.

I would love a classic ray, but it’s the slab body that puts me off as I find them uncomfortable. If I had any money at the moment this would be perfect for me.

wish I had the money. It’s gorgeous!
