It was due for delivery Thursday, then Friday and then it went to they will update when they have a date..... Very clear and loads of sustain. It is more modern sounding than a standard P, but that's what I wanted and expected. I don't think the newer versions are active and passive anymore, so it's active only. Folkesy Posted February 18, 2023 Share Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) So I've had a few days paying with the Electra VS4 now and I'm very impressed. The neck is really nice and the frets are finished perfectly. The sound from the pickups and preamp is brilliant and somehow sounds a little better than my VM5 with the neck pickup soloed. The best thing about this bass is the sustain it has, it just rings and rings. The only negative I can find is that the tuners are a little heavy and it makes it neck dive slightly while seated (the VM5 is perfectly balanced). All in all a great bass and even a nice bit of flaming going down on the neck too. I'd highly recommend the Electra series, great bass. The p-bass style is a 2015 Sandberg VS4 Custom in hardcore aged finish and the other is a 2010 Sandberg TT5 (which was previously owned by the bass player for Architects). I love them both equally but the VS4 steals the show every time for me, once you get the p-bass bug its just game over. They are TGI ABS cases. The bought the pair at the same time from Bass Direct in 2018 and have been toured many many times, getting smashed around in the back of the van and are SOLID. Never let me down! Having not being able to find another one on the official webstore I contacted them to ascertain as to where I could buy a replacement. They sent me one in the post free of charge. Several letters of my “California” fell off and while they also sent me a free replacement, it shouldn’t have happened. I'm an electrical / electronic engineer so its easy for me to calculate in my napper but not everyone fully understands it. I've seen a lot of queries on the Mesa threads mainly on TB to be honest because the new Subway amps go down to 2ohms and people don't get how to calculate for 3 or even 4 cabs. Lot of the new amps go down to 2 ohms and maybe a wee update to show it would be pretty nice if that's an option of course. Just a thought. Dave It's not mine - I just link to it because it's so useful. You can have loads of options - just click the 3 in parallel or the 4 in parallel links on the page and it gives those figures too.
