Chadu25 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) Anyone with a BB434M who wants to swap their maple neck to a rosewood one? I'm SW19 (London) based but can travel a bit and meet halfway. Looking to do this to my project bass. The modding continues. Will then change to lollipop tuners for aesthetics and add a clear ramp. Highly inspired by Vincen Garcia's custom. So I'm going the route where this Yammy is what I'll call mine. Love the Sonic blue and similar finishes so much as it's my fave colour. IanA Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Have any of you ever come across a BBP35 that weighs 4kg? I would absolutely love one but they all seem to be around 4.5kg as far as I can tell Quote
BassApprentice Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Maybe not overly helpful, but would switching out the tuners for ultralights on one not get you close to saving that 0.5kg? Quote

Not sure, they are described as being lightweight so I could possibly save a bit not drivable not 0.5kg. I think Gotoh resolites would look nice if they fitted Quote

They play, feel and sound amazing but they are quite hefty even when siting down. 1 Quote
Paddy777 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I’ve never seen one advertised at less than 4.3kg - I window shopped them for 18 months before buying mine (and promptly traded it a fortnight later! This is the bass that taught me a hard lesson in making sure you’ve played one before buying one! 🤣) 1 1 Quote
IanA Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Have had a flick through the classifieds and it looks like the P35 that @M@23 was selling a while back was on the lighter side Quote

Good Luck getting Resolites, they're in very short supply right now (well, the 3/8 ones are, the 1/2 maybe not)... 1 Quote

I’ve had two, one was 10lbs+ and that one, the sunburst one, was 8lbs 9oz. And top to bottom perfect with it. I sold it to a mate who has fallen in love with it, and last we spoke, planned to have it stripped and refinished pink! 2 Quote
Hacksawbob Posted January 20 Posted January 20 could anyone share the stock capacitor and potentiometer values on the bbp35 please? Quote
Chadu25 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Anyone knows the size of the machine heads of the BB434? Looking to install a lollipop ultralite but not sure if it’s a 1/2” or 3/8” that I should get. I’ll have it professionally installed so I won’t mind the new screw holes as old ones will be filled. Quote
Serginhobass Posted January 20 Posted January 20 @Hacksawbob 250 kΩ audio-taper The actual model is: Noble RV24YN 20kCB 1 Quote
la bam Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I've just listed my BB734a matte black in the for sale section if anyone is looking for one. Quote

Maude Posted January 23 Posted January 23 "Pick out the best of the bunch from the stockroom for our NAMM display wall." "OK boss, I really like this BB434M with the obviously mismatched centre piece of wood. I like the way it stands out and doesn't just blend in like the others." [A moments pause then face-palm] That is the first properly shonky Yamaha I've ever seen. Maybe the guy that was doing the book-matching for the Cort Space basses got moved to the Yamaha facility. SteveXFR Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Hi everyone. Ive had my BB1100 for a little while and it plays really nicely but I can't seem to get pickup height right. I do tend to dig in quite hard whether playing with a pick or fingers and im getting pops and cracks as if the strings are touching the pickup poles. Is it normal to need to set the pickups quite low? Ive got about 3mm between strings and pickups at the moment. Quote

Is that with the string pressed down at the highest fret or unfretted? If the latter it's probs too close. If the former then that's about right. Edited 53 minutes ago by ead Quote
