Man, I can't get over this pic. Two absolutely beauties indeed !!!!  How can someone like a Precision after this? 🙂

A heads up to BB735a owners and possibly other 5 stringers in the new model range - The low B string in a set of Dunlop Flats will not fit through the bridge as the ball end of the string is too chunky. I was unable to feed the last inch or so of the ball end through the bridge hole. I considered shaving off the silks but it wouldn’t have made much difference as it seems like the construction of the string is the issue.

The E, A, D and G strings were fine FYI. 4 string players won’t have this problem.

I have Dunlop flats on my BB735A and didn't have this problem. I'm away right now without the bass, but I can have a closer look later in the week.

Hmm. Ok that would be good. At least this tells me it’s an isolated issue.

A friend of mine uses them on his P34, not sure if the bridge design is the same. Does it work through the body?

The EAD&G stings didn’t have the problem, so a P34 would be fine with my set. Attempting to go through the body felt like I was going to snap the strings to get a proper break angle over the saddles.

Can you go in with the string straight - under the saddle. Then manoeuvre the string to be on top of the saddle once it's in.

Ah, sorry, I meant to say that attempting to go through the body felt like I was going to snap the string. Now edited.

Sorry, he plays a P35 with Dunlop flats! Just saw him last night.

I never felt comfortable in general stringing flats through the body, on any bass. The bend angle seems too great for how rigid the strings are.

Guys, ive just ordered a BBP34, based on me loving the 425 i got last week. The 425 is great but i dont think I really want to use a 5 string bass all the time, so back to a 4 for now. I know there are cheaper alternatives but what the hell, i saw it for a great price (new) and i guess it doesnt really get much better at this price point.

What i have realised is i could do with a low D on a few songs, so other than take two basses i was wondering if anyone has put a Hipshot Xtender on a P34, or similar. Or know if one will fit without any other modifications.

Really looking forward to getting the P34. A bit apprehensive as it was at least £150 cheaper than other places, but sold as new.

And still loving the 425 ive only had for a week. Thats not going anywhere in the near future.

probably the BT10 will do it for you buddy

D tuners are the nuts

Cheers. Ive never used one before, although well aware of what they are and do. I did buy one years ago but never got around to putting it on my bass, and then sold it.

Time to rectify that then methinks, installation is a breeze

You could go mad and fit multiple ones!

Fantastic invention, they really are and gives you loads of options for playing all kinds of music.
