yorks5stringer Posted October 24, 2008 Share Posted October 24, 2008 Aimee Mann was excellent last night, the bassist, and her album producer Paul Bryan played a Vox Apollo bass ( semi with 1 cutaway and tear drop headstock) and an old slab P (Telecaster) bass with an extra Jazz pickup near the bridge. Good gig to go to, pain to work in, the load in is via a motor winch upstage right. The Astoria is on the site of an old pickle factory y'know.. But now, all I want to do is PLAY it, not WATCH it. Shame, I would probably learn from it. I also don't actually sit and listen to music much, either. Possibly a hangover from the 17 years off I took from music, completely. No basses, no CDs, no going down the pub, even. When I first gotback into it, someone said about doing 'Sweet Child O'Mine', and I'd never heard of it... Embarrasing! Should be a good gig.[/s] When your housemates ask you if you want dinner cooked and you say no, if they offer to move their cooking plans forward to accomdate you, tactfully tell them to piss off and get your own food, otherwise you find that it won't happen and you'll have missed the chance to go and get seating at quite a busy gig, therefore meaning there's no point going. Support was - Stone Gods, who were ace, and some Canadian band called sound and fury - they weren't bad either. A good night in all.
