6.
So what did you think? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts versus the Soul Food.
I like it, I really like it The bass soul food is a cracking pedal too, I got some great sounds out of it however it was a bit trebley (spelling?) for me. I had the treble wound right out and I had to creep some low-end in from my bass each time I used it to get the exact sound I wanted. Also, it had a great overdrive sound - fantastic with a pick, but I play fingerstyle so I want an extra 10% more of overdrive that the bass soul food. The Ampeg delivered the sound I wanted too with that tiny extra smidge of overdrive and it has slightly more low-end to it when the treble is wound out. It was a tough decision as I already had the soul food but I didn't want to keep tweaking my bass controls each time I used it. It's probably perfect for 90% of people looking for a subtle overdrive pedal but the Ampeg pedal just carries that little bit more, for me.
 7.
Busiest guitar tech of the night.
That's Super-Trev! He's Level 42 / Mark King's tech too. Lovely chap, really nice guy & very good at his job. Good to see him on the telly box between songs during the set.
 8.
Sold already! So what about that Warwick Streamer II 5 string then - surely you prefer your MusicMan Stingray 5 to a measly Warwick?
Ha ha! I'm enjoying your persistence! The Warwick is going nowhere, I can snapchat you some saucy photos of it though.
 9. Price or Trade Value : £50 Mint condition. Hardly used. Boxed. Complete with power supply. Photos on request as I don't have it with me today. £4 postage Mods - I am selling it this time..
 10.
That's a great story! Who is the mum and how did she know to get a Warwick Streamer II 5 String German made?!! Did she go on a Basschat sponsored course on "how to spot the best bass ever?" It's obviously a great starter bass for her little boy wonder; I presume she bought him an Aston Martin to learn to drive in? Is she now single and looking for a toy boy? Too many questions, so little time... Happy to speak to Mrs Sparky and also to grease her palm with a new coffee machine or Dyson hair dryer if either of those things take her fancy? PM me her contact details. Bandwagons are meant to be jumped on. But best ask bluesparky to change the thread title to "Warwicks - Soul Food for Bassplayers".
I know, silly story isn't it! Whenever I go back into the shop Matt always asks how the bass is and gently shakes his head saying "you got a great bargain there mate!". I'm not sure of the manufacturing details, but as far as I'm aware / assume she looked on line / in a catalogue and said "that one, in red". I'm still in hospital at the moment (hopefully home tomorrow) but I'm going to try out the Ampeg & EHX pedals side by side and see if I can do without the Soul Food, they certainly don't fit on my board.
 11. I bought it second hand from Planet Music in Ipswich (I know the chap in there, Matt, lovely chap, damn good salesman, I only went in for some strings!). The story is that a mother bought the bass for her son who wanted to learn, her, living in a part of Suffolk where everything has to be the best etc bought it as a beginner bass (!) for him, he promptly got bored after only a couple of months and then it was sold back to the shop as an unwanted present. I saw it a couple of weeks later and picked up a pretty much new bass for a lot less than retail value. You're more than welcome to talk to the wife - she also saw the Ampeg pedal turn up and assumed that a bass would be walking out of the door too but then I managed to salvage that buy pointing out I'd just sold my TC foot remote.. Phew!! (Mods, apologies for going off-topic on this thread, I am enjoying the conversation though!).
 12.
...well if you fancy selling me your Warwick I'll buy the EHX Soul Food off you at the same time
Ha Ha! Nice try. I bought the Warwick about 5 years ago, it was always my second bass to my Stingray, for which the sound I fell in love with when I started listening to the Chilis and Reef about 25 years ago. The stingray had a couple of issues which were repaired, but the luthier (very good) said that he wasn't 100% sure he'd solved the electrical issue with the stringray so he suggested using it as a backup for the time being. When I listened back to the video / audio recording of the Warwick, which was DI'd straight into the desk my jaw hit the floor as it sounded lush! So sorry! not until the wife orders me to sell it! However, I did purchase a Dean Acoustic bass a couple of weeks ago, which my wife assumed was operating on the one-in-one-out basis (it's not).
 13. Aw man, now I don't know if I want to sell it! Ha ha - i'll remove it so I don't waste anyone's time, have a play with it and then re-decide. I did purchase the Ampeg Bass Scrambler Overdrive pedal last week, which booted the Soul Food off. They're very similar, the scrambler has slightly more grit and to me, the key thing is that it has slightly more bass tone to it, when I use the soul food I roll a smidge of low end in from my bass in,
 14.
That's a nice pedal (I bought one last month!) - why are you selling it?
I need the space on my pedalboard - of course you've put a seed of doubt in my mind as to whether I want to sell it or not now! It is a great sounding pedal...
 15. Mint condition. Hardly used. Boxed. Complete with power supply. No photos as I'm not at home at the moment, the earliest I'd be able to send it is next week.
 16.
Is that just the Scrambler or the SCR DI? I was looking at that as not only a pedal but also a portable quiet practice tool. It looked like it sounded the business
Just the scrambler, I'm looking forward to it arriving. I may have to sell my bass soul food to make room for it on my pedal board. I'll keep you posted on what my opinion of it is.
 17. Well, I found one on-linen and it's ordered so I'll keep you posted as to how I get on.
 18.
Just been reading about the One Control Sonic Silver Peg, which does a really good driven Ampeg impression, not sure who sells these but they look and sound nice: http://www.one-control.com/sonic-silver-peg.html
Ok, thanks, I'll check it out too. I see that there are a couple of stores that are due to have the pedal in stock in mid-June so I'll keep an eye out for them. Thank you

 20. The new version, maybe its not been release. I don't seem to see it stocked anywhere where I can check it out and reviews seem to be thin on the ground.
 21.
His hard rock peers paid tribute, beginning with Jane’s Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Dave Navarro
Yeah, I heard that too!!
