its a tremolo basically over the notes you"d get from something like an arpeffiator

It's more of a tremolo, that adds various harmonies to your sound. It's similar to an arpeggiator, but due to the tremolo depth (if set deep), it cuts your core tone up into strange choppy textures. It's a thing you need to hear in detail to explain.

Here is an old track, from the band that used the massive board I shared earlier. This track uses the old 2-pedal slicer (in the intro and again later, but more subtle). I share this because it uses the same filter-y octave tone as the one in the video, which is why I think it's a slicer. The depth on this one is low, so the bass tone underneath isn't being fully chopped up, but you can hear the similarities.

every time ppl start talking about moogerfoogers it makes me want to start collecting pedals - they are just cool. 
I have the past-fx 101 clone - and am tempted by a SA Artefakt that can do most of the functionality of most of them.. maybe not them all together

The Artefakt seems uber cool. I've been considering one myself.

NOTHING gets the tone of the foogers though... but they're also massive, colour your tone even when bypassed, have awkward power needs, cost a fortune, have temperamental foot switches and and and a million other downsides. But they are cool

My homemade pedal board with built-in power supply. The perspective is a bit skewed as all the pedals are level with or inside the edges of the pedal board. For anyone that knows the mic mechanic, I don't use those settings. Just for info, the power is from two 550mA discrete switch mode power supplies. The IEC input is on the right-hand side. The two left-hand power sockets to the Zoom and the Thomann wireless system are connected to one power supply, and right-hand sockets supply the Mic Mechanic with one socket spare. 

 

 

I designed it that ways as on the usual cheap power supplies, there is noise induced from the Mic Mechanic

  to the Zoom.

I stupidly made the board before measuring my pedals. I might make this my  "small board" and make another to make the layout easier.  I have some more PCBs for the power supply, so keep your eyes peeled in a month year or two.

Need to tidy up the wiring but just wanted to be sure it all sounded good. My standard set up remains much the same. I tap the sound from the Simone DI as below:
TU3>4OTF>BSComp>Simone DI>CabM+
all goes to FOH/desk

 

The full board goes to the amp via Simone 1/4” out:

TU3>4OTF>BSComp>Simone1/4”>MB Comp>P&P>Funk> Thumpinator >amp

 

4OTF just as an always on low gain thing taking advantage of the filters. The MB is just acting as a valve stage and not doing any compression worth writing home about (I mean it can but not on this gig iteration). Getting a bit more juice from the 4OTF. P&P doubles as either drive or fuzz depending on the tune and set low gain gets a nice bump from the 4OTF too. Nice to have different drives available to layer. 
 

Funkulator just does its thing and adds a nice scoop to the drive sound for added sculpting.

The next evolution of my Nano Rock Covers pedalboard:

1. Korg PitchBlack XS Bass Tuner.

2. Microthumpinator v2 (underneath).

3. Grimalkin. It's like a posh fuzz that does so much more. It's very cool. 

4. Origin Effects DCX Bass sparkle box. Makes Spector basses more Spector than is appropriate in most circumstances. 

5. Origin Effects Cali76. A compressor that I actually understand and get to work for me easily. 

6. Aguilar Chorusaurus v2 analogue Bass chorus. It's lovely, so much so it's turned me into a Chorus-whore-us. I can't turn it off.

A double-decker pedalboard!

 

 

Version 2.  My inexpensive IEM system packed up so got a refund and swapped out for a better one**.

 

V1 was heading in that direction, but now I've got to fit a 1/2 rack-sized IEM system, it's increased the doubleheightedness(😬) to near maximal levels.
 

Functional

* wireless bass receiver (2.4GHz)

* IEM transmitter (863-5 MHz)

* battery (5V, 9V, 12V)

* IEM headphone mixer amp

 

Gear

Same as my previous post with the "t.bone IEM 75" (replacing the M-Wave WP-12). This is the entry level option in their range, around 10 years old with great reviews on Thomann, perfect for the pub gigs I do. Was £60 + postage on Reverb in nearly new condition. I'd really like a Mi-Pro 58 but that's outside my current budget.

I've accidentally fallen back into a live electronica project, which is something I didn't think I'd ever do again. As such, I have been able to dig out some classics again, like my SL-20. Sounded so damn good last night. Can't wait to jam with this board again!

The FP is utterly awesome, but the controls are sooooo sensitive to different input levels that balancing it to various pedals before it is a constant challenge. I'll see how I feel after the next session.

How do you like the Horrothia Type One? I'm considering it for my chorus, only concern is that it doesn't have a blend and am worried about loss of low end. I like the idea of one knob though.

One thing not to be worried about is a loss of low end… it’s monstrous! Ha. Zero low end loss, even when using sub octave pedals.

 

It’s frankly gorgeous sounding.
