highwayman
I'm keen to have a try of some fat plectrums, but before shelling out I thought I'd see what my fellow BCers recommend? The ones with indentations in them look appealing, and I like a point - along the lines of my current choice, the dark pink Dunlop .96 mm. Suggestions please? KingBollock
I used Dunlop 3mm Big Stubbys for twenty odd years (most of that with the lexan ones, but later switched to the nylon version), but switched to the Dunlop Primetones a year or so ago. The Primetones go up to 5mm. They last longer than the Stubbys (which is good because they're £8.99 for three) and they are easier to grip. FinnDave
I make my own from .7mm plastic card (credit cards!). I glue two together and then add another two which finish about 3/4 of the way from the tip, and then glue wet & dry paper to these 'thickeners'. I find them easier to grip, which I need due to an injury to my right hand which has left it very weak.
gs_triumph
I use these ebony picks with the hole in the middle. Easy to grip. M@23
Dunlop Jazz III and the XL version. Used them for years as a guitarist and are the only picks I use now too.

I'd order when ordering something else that qualifies for free postage.
JapanAxe
Although I rarely use a plectrum, these days, my choice is a Dunlop Delrin 1.14mm in attractive fuschia:

Please elaborate?
they are made by Hufschmid the large yellow one is called the Anvil and was made to help arthritis sufferers as it takes less effort to hold the pick compared to a standard 1mm pick but it plays exactly the same and has a slightly heavier sound. the other one is their drop this is similar to the anvil easier to hold but still able to play just as fast! they arent cheap but really worth it. progben
Dunlop Jazz III and the XL version. Always used Jazz IIIs and although it seems uncommon to use such a small pick for bass, it works for me!

41.2Hz
I rarely use a pick these days, but back in the day when Bruce Foxton was my inspiration (Precision: black, black, maple) i used these: - http://intl.fender.c...nt-shell-heavy/ I like the shape, 'cos it's harder to use them the wrong way around, and there's 2 more 'points' when one wears out Edited July 8, 2016 by 41.2Hz
uk_lefty
On the rare occasions I use a pick I go for a great big dorito shaped Fender .71mm I have had for well over ten years. I find it does everything I would want a pick for such as a clicky harsher attack or a rattling speed line too fast for fingers.
paul h
I use Steve Clayton 1mm acetal large(?) triangle picks. They are not fat but they feel nice and grippy to me. Not that I'm fussy at all
OddBass65
Don't use a pick much, but when I do it's either a Dunlop Big Stubby 1mm or a Felt one...depending on the tune.
highwayman
Just ordered a V-Pick Medium Rounded: it's 2.81 MM. thick and apparently they are made from a type of acrylic that gets more grippy as it warms up from your fingers.
