CamdenRob
It's your bass, do whatever you like with it I always thought the relic thing was to give the impression of an older, naturally road worn instrument. To the best of my knowledge Mayones basses haven't been around long enough for any of the wear and tear associated with years of gigging to be apparent? Fitz666
Paintjob sounds interesting, but personally relicing it is like painting rust on a new car to make it seem older and used, I just dont get it.
dannybuoy
Relic basses can look cool but I think it has to be a Fender/Musicman or something that's been around since the 70s! That said, I do like this Sandberg!
Number6
Imho just use the bass forever then in 40 years time it will be reliced 👍.

discreet
Imho just use the bass forever then in 40 years time it will be reliced .
That works. But on a 70s P Bass with a poly finish, it's only a light relic.
sunburstjazz1967
I don't know what people do to make basses so battered, I've owned things fit years and only collected a few bumps and buckle rash.

visog
...or you could just play it... a lot and let nature take its course. (But that Sandberg looks awesome...)
JapanAxe
Follow these simple steps to accelerate your bass's ageing process with hardly any effort: (1) Make yourself some sleeves out of sandpaper. (2) Fix a small lump of concrete to your belt buckle with grip-fill. (3) Wear them whenever you play your bass. (4) Round up all the old keys from around your house and chuck them in your bass case or gig-bag

Reminded me of my martial arts days, where guys would take sandpaper to their black belts to make it look like they had been training longer than they had! It was part of a status and image thing... I wonder if that's subconsciously part of the appeal of reliced basses? I do like that Sandberg though! And and I am growing increasingly fond of reliced finishes: although mainly on more traditional painted jazz and precision body styles. icastle
1) Slacken off the strings. 2) Get a piece of rope. 3) Tie one end to the neck of the bass. 4) Tie the other end to the bumper of your car. 5) Head for motorway.
