BlackStar guitar amps - Curse

Did a summer festival the other year where the main guitar player's new BlackStar rig failed mid gig ...

Fast forward to a Function last week and I comment to the guitar player about his BlackStar combo "hey, I played a gig a while ago with a guitarist who had one of these, and it packed up ...."

Guess what happened during that gig ?

If you've got one don't bring it near me, I'll curse it.

I was in a spoof hair-metal band a few years ago, both guitarists used Blackstar 200w half stacks. Well, they did between trips back to the shop.... One lasted 5 minutes at it's first rehearsal, another about 20! After 5 replacements between them they finally got two that worked. I don't know if they lasted very long as I left the band for the sake of my hearing.

Not wanting to spoil the party but in my old band the guitarist had one of the Blackstar combos and he never had a moments trouble out of it, and he`d bought it 2nd hand as well.

Probably because you bought it second had, if it had lasted long enough for the previous owner to get to the point of selling it, it was probably a good one :)

It's a new brand that Scott Gorham off of Thin Lizzy got made by his mums friend. They come highly recommended!

They are pretty cheap and cheerful... I'd expect for what you pay you'd get dodgy QC, cheap components etc.

At my local studio I sometimes use one of their 4x12 guitar cabs when I can't be bothered to bring my own cabs, it sounds fine.

Guitarist in my band uses a Blackstar set up. After a whole load of Marshalls Fenders and God knows what else it's the Backstar that delivers the sound. Had one problem that was solved with a new set of valves. Other than that it hasn't missed a beat. I love the sound of it personally and prefer it to stuff way way way more expensive.

D'oh! I know! I was just having a bit laugh and a joke. What do you think the '' was for? :P

My youngest has a Blackstar Combo (one of the emulating ones). Sounds absolutely brilliant, but the speaker blew. Fixed under warrantee, but it does make you wonder what they are playing at? Surely in a well designed combo the amp should not be capable of blowing the speaker (could have been a speaker manufacturing fault I guess).
