MUSICMAN PORN THREAD

budget bassist

Recommended Posts

Finally my lovely Sterling. I've owned this bass twice and it has 'done the rounds' with quite a few of the BC community a few years back. She became known as 'Rita'. One piece body and matching headstock. I fitted a Nordstrand pickup the 1st time I owned it and I notice that there is no Nordy motif on it now. Maybe there never was? Did someone swap the Nordy out? (they are rare beasts nowadays, special order only). It still has a huge tone anyway which makes me think it's still the Nordstrand. I also have the pearloid white scratch plate in case anyone is offended. I'm not sure where the original white one went. It lost it's original case along the way too but I replaced it with a new one.

Sadly it sits in it's case as I I'm used to 5's now. It's still not for sale though for sentimental reasons :D

Very nice basses here!! Getting some serious GAS for a 5 or 6 string Bongo!

At this moment my '91 Mary Kay SR5 is my main bass. Love the PG that blablas made for it!!
The SR4 is build on the day I turned 13 and a half.. the year I started playing bass. Will never be able to let then one go.. or I need to find one from the same year that is build on my birthday. But it is a great sounding and playing bass, no reason to consider letting it go.

1979 fretless Ray bought from Pino Palladino via bass gallery. I do struggle when faced with temptation.

Bought new from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow last weekend. Was after a one of these with a maple board and this rubyredburst is a great finish. Owned a few Stingray five strings in the past. Liking the SBMM version too.

Had this nice 2001 Stingray for a few months now and it's really grown on me. I moved from 35" scale 5 string as my main bass, back to a 4 string so it took some getting used to. I wasn't sure on the finish at first but really love it now and it has some lovely subtle Birdseye on the neck too which was a bonus.

So to tart it up a bit I ordered some white pickup covers, and they finally arrived from the excellent folks at Strings and Things (after being caught up with a delivery of guitars bang in the middle of the cities issues) so I set about installing it today. Rather pleased with the result and quite like the no pickguard look too.

After selling my 78/79 Walnut Ray in January 2014 I’ve been on the lookout for a replacement. I’ve been selling a lot of my collection over the last few months as I no longer want cupboards full of basses or anymore ‘wall hangers’, I decided that all I wanted were basses that I would pick up and happily gig any night in any venue. With that in mind and my desire to get another Pre EB, I managed to snag this gorgeous bass off eBay. A quick 300 mile round trip followed by a complete strip down of every component and a good clean, polish, new battery and strings. It had a bit of an intermittent noise so I removed the op amp, cleaned the legs and re sat it and problem solved. One happy bunny.
