Let me kick off this new forum with a thread dedicated to all the wonderful guitars owned by Basschat members.

And to start in true BRX style here's my most recent 6-string acquisition - the Hallmark Wing-Bat:

Based on the Hallmark Swept Wing design and endorsed by George Bariss of 60s Batmobile fame (amongst others), this is a limited edition of 100.

Go on then...

Eggle Tony Iommi sig, bought this in 1995, now has a pair of Gibson Iommi pickups in it.

Black home made strat - Warmoth neck, ebay body, Duncan JB and a Kahler trem. Used this for every Acrid Nebula gig tuned to dropped A. Yowzers.

Bacchus Empire. Picked this up second hand off the ubox. It has the best coil tap you'll ever hear and is pretty swish in superstrat mode too. Another well gigged guitar.

Bacchus Duke. Again, bought from Japan a few years ago. I love this guitar more than is healthy.

Bacchus T Master. Another u-box steal. This has the nicest neck of any guitar in the world.

Tokai ES130. Bought on the strength of playing a mates ES120. Gorgeous tone and a really nice player.

Bacchus strat in whiteburst finish, now with a set of Van Zandt pickups. Lovely player too.

Ibanez RG550. Every home should have one. The original pickups were gack but it really shines with some EMGs.

Wow! BigRedX! How fast does it go?!?!
A bit faster than the original Batmobile which apparently had to be sped up on film...

I do like the fact that the "boost switch" does nothing other than switch on the LEDs!

It's currently strung with 54-10s for that low-end Psychobilly twang.

More Readers' Wives than decent porn, but here's my rebuilt Ibanez EX-140. Old pic, it does have strings now!

I'll play.

First up, not mine, but a Roger Giffin custom, loaned by a friend. I'd never liked 'super strats' but this is the complete exception, and the the tone from those strat-size humbuckers was wonderful, whether series or parallel.

Now moved on, I loved the looks of this First Act Sheena but couldn't get on with the neck profile.

One of my 3 favourite guitars, my Tokai 'Japan only' '59 replica Les Paul. With Burstbucker 1 & 2s, it sounds as good as it looks, and it looks VERY good indeed. One of the best Les Pauls I've ever played, and on a par with Gibson's VOS (the seller had a VOS '58 and I tried them side by side).

Another one I moved on - Godin SD. They have a great reputation, but TBH I'd put the quality lower/par with MIM Fenders of 10 years ago. The fingerboard was too narrow and it did nothing as well as any of my strats, despite the 'interesting' looks.

Godin Radiator that I also sold (and regret a little). I like these - light, jangly, fun - but with a Jazz bass style controls which don't work so well on a guitar.

Switch Ultima IV plastic guitar with piezo bridge and GFS humbuckers. Not a bad guitar, but a victim of me wanting to slim down the collection.

To be continued another night.

Can't add mine. Both are having work done to them...well one is. The strat body is still with Mr Shuker after three years, ready to go but just needs to be shipped. I miss it, has a really nice neck.

I'm having a Klein style semi hollow body made to replace the one on my Shuker-berger.

Here's my favourite; it's a 1936 Kalamazoo KG21 archtop. Kalamazoo were a budget line made by Gibson during the depression when few people could afford the fancier models. It's very plain, but made from good spruce and mahogany, and I'd never have had the money for an actual 30's Gibson. It has the biggest v-neck I've ever played, so much so that it took me ages to find a capo to fit! I've got 13 gauge strings on and it sounds great, quite strident and midrangey. I've also got a beautiful little parlour guitar built by my brother Pete Beer and an oddball Kay LP synth electric, but I don't have decent pictures of those just now...

The only picture I have to hand of my guitar - I built it from Warmoth bits and I absolutely love it. It's chambered so it's very light and resonant, and the neck is a lovely bit of birdseye maple.

I'll be fitting a bigsby clone and a dogear P90 in the neck position this weekend - not looking forward to drilling through to the control cavity for the wiring...

Doctor J - loving the Bacchus Duke and the Tokai ES130. Any chance of some bigger photos?
Cheers.

The pics are huge, I think the site has resized them. If you right click and "view image" (on Firefox at least) it'll show the full size.

Here is pretty much the complete history of my guitars:

First one was one of these, got it for christmas 7 years ago.

Then, 6 months later, one of these. "A genuine les paul copy!" (I sold my XBOX to get this one lol):

I've still got this one (or bits of it anyway) in my workshop out the back.
Once I was done ruining this one, I got myself one of these:

I ended up stuffing some clothes in this one to reduce the feedback lol. About a year later I sold this one to get me one of these:

Dean Z '79. Great guitar for what I paid for it (about £220). I've still got this one, 5 years after I bought it (which for me, is pretty good lol). Here is another pic of EH with the pickups it has in it currently:

Then I bought this Maverick X-1:

That was gotten rid of in order to purchase this:

ESP F400 FM, by far my favourite guitar I ever bought. WTF I sold it, I don't know.

I had this guitar only for a couple of weeks, bought it from a friend, sold it to a bloke in Austrailia for a massive profit lol. Epiphone goth explorer.

Finally, here is the 2nd guitar I still own. I built this myself from parts (you can tell can't you? lol)

Plays like utter sh*te, sounds ok.
And that is it for EH's guitars :) . I might buy another one sometime soon (although I am always saying that  )

I've only got cheapo Guitars. I shan't bother with pics of my Encore Acoustic or my old Spanish Guitar.

My first Guitar was a Cort, Headless Flying V. It started off Trans Red with a really nice wood grain, but I didn't like the colour. It's been Green, Purple and Silver since I've had it. It is now Signal (Banana) Yellow...

My other isn't technically mine. QueenBollock decided she wanted to learn to play Guitar. I was soooo close to convincing her to get a hardtail BC Rich Warlock, but, at the very last minute, she changed her mind and went for this....thing...

Dean Cadillac

I HATE blue, but, after the mess I made of the other one, and the fact that I bought this new, not second-hand, I've not dared touch it. Except to change the knobs and add push/pull pots to split the coils. It plays and sounds lovely though, just wish it wasn't so ugly. She's only ever picked it up twice, we've had it for over 10 years.

Here's something else a bit rare...

Hohner TE Custom XII 12-string guitar.

If you search on the web for this you'll find a completely different instrument with a Telecaster shaped body and EMG pickups. I've only ever come across one other with this body shape and pickup configuration and that used to belong to Captain Sensible. Does anyone here know any more about this guitar?

I love the 12-string sound and this is the second 12-string guitar I've owned. I previously had a Baldwin Model 712 which looked great but was difficult to play and sounded terrible. The Hohner is a fantastic guitar. The lipstick-tube pickups are fairly low output, but IMO they suit a 12-string as the sound should be all about the shimmer and not how hard you can drive the amp. The only down side is that it's quite heavy but then it's hardly the sort of guitar you'd use for a whole gig.

It looks to be somewhere between the original Fender Electric XII:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Electric_XII

and the somewhat later Stratocaster XII:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Stratocaster_XII

Does it have a date of manufacture?
