Right here it is then as promised an all new porn thread just for pre EB stuff from 76-84. Its not an anti Ernie Ball thread as many of us will own those too but as some of us know they have become a bit of an underground bass with only other owners apparently knowing who has what under the bed! :) If you dont want the forum to know thats fine I will not reveal who has what to my knowledge now or in the future as its not my place nor my business but Im keen to promote them as a brand in their own right and it will be a useful resource for people interested in them or thinking of purchasing one in the near future. I dont mind getting pm's asking for my opinions on them as some of you know so keep them coming if you like and as I said before I wont reveal any info as I would not want to be responsible for any bidding wars on basses available where ever they may be for sale, If its root beer brown and a 77' I might try and beat you to it though!

Im hoping with this thread available to post on just for pre EB stuff it will be easier to see who has what and compare as they really are quite rare compared to most main stream basses and the info is already limited to this site http://www.musicmanbass.org/default.htm If anyone has any other useful links then please add those too thats exactly what Im thinking about and of course your own photos and info.

Ok I will start us off then, Mine is a 1982 in natural with a white pickguard, Four bolt neck, Top loaded bridge, All original except the foam pads which I have remade link to follow.

Body date Nov 24 1982 but no neck date which is quite common according to the guys at musicmanbass.org and not really an issue with an 82 as its the last neck version with the logo nearer the bottom edge anyway.

Here is my '77 Stingray. Neck and body were built in June and July 1977. I have only just bought the bass so have not had time to take any pics and it has now gone down to Bernie Goodfellow in Brighton for a bit of work and attention!

Sounds fantastic though and really looking forward to recording with it next month.

Very nice Alan! :)
Did it come with a case, If so whats it like? Cases appear to be one of the real sticking points for authenticity, I have a period case that Nicks Guitars sorted out for me and it appears to actually be a correct case for 79>84 bass (Cheney catches, rectangular, white band top and bottom) lots of interior colours appear possible mines black but orange and blue seem most common.

Here is my 1983 Cutlass I for your viewing pleasure. :)
I bought it back in 1990 from the Bass Centre in Wapping - it was fairly pricey, but I just had to have it...

Yep! There were 2 Cutlass models produced: the Cutlass I (StingRay with the Modulus graphite neck) and the Cutlass II (Sabre with the graphite neck).

A fretless Cutlass II is what was famously used by Tony Levin for the bassline of 'Sledgehammer' by Peter Gabriel.
