I have been using Elixir's for a while now and really rate them - they just sound so good for so long.

The 5's action is just far too low - bottom B feels rather flappy!

All of my basses are dull at the moment, Just trying to get the last few drops out of them especially the 5'er as its my last pack of pink EB's. Gigging at the Robin 2 on saturday so that might be the gig for fresh ones.

For some reason I like the 5's action a little lower than the 4's, I think it makes me play a bit jazzier :)

here's my late '79, early '80 sabre (the neck and body date differ by one month)

...also in the garden
[/quote]Couldnt quite tell from the Pic's Ahpook but it sure looks like my old one. I did a trade with Howerd for a Stingray. I have a Frettless Sabre in black it's a Keeper, Didnt think i would need two similar Sticks and then regreted letting it go. That bass just does it all.........Nice

It has a good share of dings and dents... which are a tribute to its phantastic sound! I totally love that bass!

That's true. Except for one single crack in the clear coat, which is only visible at certain angles, this StingRay looks almost like new. And the sound and playability are just unbelievable. I totally love that bass as well :)

Hi all,
thanks to Stingray Pete, I found this forum. Well , I have some nice pre ernies too, but , to be honest, I prefer the late 79' ones ....and ASH bodies....therefore, i sell all my custom colors (black, oly white and probably even my Inca Silver) , which are alder bodies.....for another ASH one....if someone is selling a good sounding ( please not a Natural one ,I have a natural 79 , which was my first pre ernie, I'll keep it) perhaps a sunburst ?, which other colour has an ash body ? I prefer also the bigger neck size, not the slim jazz neck size..perhaps even a rosewood neck / ash body ?
i even would throw in one of my fenders p-basses.....thanks guys...

i have a large favour to ask anyone with one of the amazing sabres in this awesome thread. Would you possible trace the body on some paper and send that piece of paper to me? Since i am currently too poor to buy a real one, i want to have a go at making my own. :D

PM me if you can please.....

Not quite sure...the serial number is B003678, 3 bolt neck and the TM on the headstock. All I can say is that it's in mint condition and it weights heavier than my natural one.
I bought it with the original Mman leather strap.
