2. Oh my, I did miss quite some great posts during the last couple months. Congratulations to everyone for the new additions!
Making the most out of the sunshine before it disappears for the winter...
Kev, great to see you found an MkII to your liking. It's a real beauty!
 3. Beautiful. That would match my four string Mk2 perfectly...
 4.
months ago i had no Stingrays, now i have 4, is it normal to get gas for gear you already have?
Perfectly normal with StingRays.
 5.
This thread needs more pictures. A little stagnant since June!
Love it!
 6.
Im litterally sitting looking at the John East site now trying to decide if I should put a 2 or 3 EQ preamp in this Classic5? My heart says 2EQ my head says 3EQ for the getting in the mix as 4 strings states
With the John East preamps, the 3EQ is actually a 2EQ with a semi-parametric mid section inserted after the 2EQ preamp. It's like going with a 2EQ bass directly into a mixing console and use the parametric mids on the console. It's brilliant. I installed one in my 1986 Sabre where the original preamp was fried. Overall the 3EQ John East preamp very nicely catches the MM 2EQ characteristics but with useful additions of a very nice sounding bright switch and the semi-parametric mid control. And with the stacked knob design it fits easily into a original 2 EQ MM bass.
 7.
And then there's this, 1980. Bought from a BCer a little while ago now, it's a proper 'Ray. Slim neck, low action, punchy sound and in excellent nick. Been no.1 bass on and off, as it is now. Bought as some recording found the sound of my long time singular Jaydee to be wanting in body. It has never disappointed.
That's nice! A true classic!
 8.
My 1991 musicman stingray! Everything I wanted and better
Some of those 90's 'Rays are just.... perfect!
 9.
Guess it's taken me a long while to post this. Probably not to many people's tastes. CB
That's a lovely and unique one! Congratulations on that find!
 10.
took some updated pics today: '90 MkII midi, '09 MkII '00 MkI, '86 MkI, '90 MkI
Beautiful pics, Mike, thanks for sharing! I think the one I envy most is the Midi bass. BTW, all of yours have ebony boards, is that correct?
 11.
But while pondering over that bass, someone just offered me back a former fretted MkI I used to own that I wished I never let go. Ahhh, decions-decions!
Yeah... and then a green one popped up
 12.
Here is a clip of me playing it. There are more clips if you go to my youtube channel. Hope this helps:
Way cool, great groovy fretless playing and tone to die for. Thanks! BTW, Mike, I'm also digging the tone in Wombatboter's video where he sits on the sofa playing a Mk1 fretless ... that took a part in convincing me that I need a fretless Wal
 13.
Oli, The five string basses do have wider pickup spacing than the 4 strings. But, if you look through the Wal database, at least from the instruments submitted to that list, there have been folks who requested closer spacing. Oddio's MkIII 5 has the pickups stacked pretty close together.
Thanks Mike. That's what I suspected. Oddio's MkIII is way cool. Would love to know how it sounds. I did check the Wal database (which unfortunately seems to be not maintained anymore) but couldn't find any hints on pickup spacing. But I found a couple of other interesting details
So the 2009 bass Bobpalt was selling now is mine, and someone snapped a pic of last weekends gig doing its' thing.
Thumbs up for being so brave! I'm not sure I'd take my Wals to a gig. Yet. BTW, I envy your gigging schedule. Both of my band projects are currently in the song writing and rehearsal phase. Hope to be back on stage by spring next year.
