Evil Undead Posted August 3, 2012 Share Posted August 3, 2012 I've got terrible GAS for two more Precisions. A classic 50's black/maple and a Road Worn sunburst/maple. Both with replacement black pickguards. But it's going to be a loooooong time before I can have either. Will be a nice mate for my 77 in vintage blond (now a dirty yellow) with black pickguard, rosewood fretboard, ash body. Just gotta wait til next Thursday. I covered the original white pickguard with some diamond plate vinyl I found on ebay It's dead easy, just need a bit of patience and a very sharp stanley knife. debwilliams Posted August 3, 2012 Share Posted August 3, 2012 Happy Friday! I got a Precision today and well .... I get it, completely get it. From the moment I began tuning it, I just got it . In the space of four short months I've got myself a jazz, a precision and a fretless bass and the difference in each of them is just perfect. I've bought a HW One Precision that is perfect company for the HW One Jazz - pics tomorrow once there is more favourable light . I am totally happy with this purchase (via here of course), the bass is in great condition has flats on so no need to rush out and get strings tomorrow. I shall now officially be a recluse unless I'm going to visit SpaceChick or the local music shop / gig or bass related outing. What a start to the weekend. I've two NBD's in two weeks. nick Posted August 4, 2012 Share Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Here's my '84 Tokai Hard Puncher, not sure what model it is, maybe a PB40(?) Had it for about 15 years. In that time had many basses come & go, but this has always remained in my collection. It's generally my go-to bass & main one when I need a bass with roundwounds. Changed stock pickup for a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 'Vintage', added the tortoishell pickguard, recently fitted a John East P-Retro & strung with DR nickel Lo-Riders. Otherwise it's stock, though I've been thinking about replacing the tuners for a while. The neck is fast, not far off a jazz bass width & with a deep U profile - similar to a 70's P-Bass, really nice to play, comfortable.
