My first ever bass, bought in 2009! (well excluding the £40 piece of **** I bought off a mate. Currently saving up to kit it out with a J-Retro preamp and potentially new pups too, but as i'm a poor student, it may take a while.

Love the cleaness of the inline Spitfire controls. Mmm...

I actually asked Bernie to use that control layout when he built the bass as I much prefer it visually to the 'Rumour' layout on the Spitfire design (there is a Rumour circuit in the bass - like you say looks much better!)

Here's my white baby . . . .

It's a heavily restored '74 neck, with a Geddy body, refinished in Nitro, 74 bridge, electrics and tuners, Wizard 84 pups and a modern scratchplate.

:o Wow! pretty amazing bass. I love the white yamaha pickups and the gold metalwork. Maybe one day.....

Thanks! I'd play it more if it wasn't so bloody heavy! If you want one your best bet is to keep an eye out on Ishibashi's U-Box, but be prepared for a long wait as Yamaha only made 50 of these.

I just realised I can post this in here as well as the Precision thread! :D

Here is my newly built Frankenstein P bass.

Squier 80's Jazz neck, I bought it half sanded with no decal. I finished sanding it, lacquered it with satin nitro cellulose and added a really crap Fender decal. (So no one thought i was trying to pull a fast one)
Squier VM body with tort scratchplate
Kiogon wiring, pots and knobs
Seymour Duncan spb-3 quarter pounder

It plays great and sounds awesome.

I could swap the bridge for something chunkier and add the strap button on the headstock, apart from that I think this is my go to bass for the foreseeable...

It's called the Yamaha BJ 5B.

BJ stands for Blue Jeans, as this is the signature bass of Terry and the Blue Jeans who are a well-known Japanese surf band - there's also matching 6 and 12 string guitars. The bass itself is essentially a hybrid of a 5-string TRB and the SBV re-issue, but has little in common with the other SBV basses other than the body and headstock shape. Mine is the only one I've ever seen that wasn't in either a Yamaha or Terry and the Blue Jeans promotional photograph. Its size and weight means that I don't get to use it unless I know that the stage we'll be playing on is sufficiently big enough for me to be able to wield it without being a danger to the audience...

I have two white basses. My Peavey Zodiac in I think Arctic White though there doesn't seem to be much difference between that and Olympic, and my mystery Ibanez SDGR in White Pearl. The Ibanez looks more like pale cream to me irl but that's what they call it. It has a subtle sparkle to it in the light.

The Zodiac:

And the SDGR:
