I have two, a Fender Jazz from '66 which I love dearly :) Since I started playing over 13 years ago I wanted to have a vintage Fender Jazz Bass, and almost three years ago, the moment was there:

And about a year ago, I got a Lakland 55-60 Limited Edition, when they were released in Translucent White, my favo Lakie colour:

Yes - I miss my DJ5. The white, maple with white blocks... it's the business.

Boo Hoo.
You just reminded me of my 1962 three color sunburst precision that was sprayed with white nitro in 63 to match the strat and the tele we used in the band.
All three white and the main guitar player's name was....White.

Had it stolen later in 63, got it back and had to sell it, then found out last year the guy I sold it to ALSO had it stolen in 64 and never got it back.

Sad.

Here's my '61 Jazz replica I made out of Fender parts...

80's Japanese Fender E-series body, routed for P-bass pickup in the neck.
Fender MIM Jazz neck refinished in nitro.
Wizard Big P/J pickups.
Tuning pegs and control plate from a '62 American Reissue.
Gotoh 201b bridge plate and Gotoh 203b saddles.

That's bloody lovely . I don't have a Jazz Bass , but I want a beaten up Bass and that wee beauty would definitely fit the bill !

Very nice indeed !

Well... I happen to own one white bass.

It's a Malinek fretless 5, made by a relatively little known Poilish luthier Ernest Malinowski (he's dropped the Malinek moniker, now he calls his guitars Malwood). Heavy - VERY heavy - ash body, maple/wenge neck, lined fretless rosewood fingerboard. Unfortunately, the EMG DC pickup messes everything up (too much lows, ugly, "detached" highs, not enough singing mids... usual EMG story). I used to love this bass (especially considering the fact that I bought it for peanuts), I recorded several songs on 5 albums with it... I'd probably change the pickup to a Bartollini for example but 1. I cannot be arsed, 2. it's too big (the headstock!) and heavy for me and I'm seriously - and I mean SERIOUSLY - GASsing for a headless fretless 5... which I can't afford atm. So, for now, the Malinek stays. It's a good bass - but not exactly what I need anymore.

I said this in the Jazz thread, but I have to state again that this bass is amazing. Probably one of my favourites I've seen on this site actually!

It just has 'it'. Even the little details like how the pickguard has gaps from the previously housed j-pickup that would normally make a bass look horrid just adds miles of character to this. Please tell me you play punk or hardcore music.

I'll climb out of this bass' arse now :).

Can't quite make it out from the pic - is this one of the Epiphone neck-through ones? If so, how is it? Quite tempted by those - seems like a good price for what you get.
