I was expecting as much on a bass forum unfortunately i'm not enough in to banjos to justify to join an exclusive banjo forum so let me off
 2.
I think there's a lot in that 'famous for being famous' thing. Once that takes over, their fans will buy anything they put out simply because it's them doing it.. But isn't that just a 'youngster' thing? You know, the way everyone 'rebels' and 'does their own thing' by wearing denim jeans, or whatever the latest fashion happens to be? It's that peer-pressure/cult thing. Then, as people grow up and become more confident in themselves they become less concerned about peer approval and start to make their own choices, at which point a much bigger world of music (or whatever) opens up before them.
I don't think its that. I think its greedy producers giving easy to follow music to make money and other poor young people getting sucked into it, maybe also due to peer pressure yes. Even if I did know and appreciate a lot more old music in the younger years of school i certainly had a lot less friends for it . But i see what you mean about getting older, I'm meeting more and more people that understand what i'm saying when i say led zeppelin. Also people that hear the stuff i listen to and go 'wow i never knew some of this was so awesome' and some people that can't stand it. Well each to his own i say
 3.
Become a friend of 'Blueflint' on FACEBOOK, tell them how fantastic you think they are, then ask them to advise you on banjos. They'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know. Debs husband also plays banjo too. https://www.facebook...ueflint?fref=ts
the butter shall be applied...thickly
 4.
...bands like the human league, simple minds, level 42, the Police...
He's right TIM, they are top bands
 5.
My son has an Ozark 2142G. Sounds brilliant but also very heavy.
wow that looks very nice! sadly about £100 out of my price bracket :/ do you think its worth it over cheaper alternatives?
 6. Thanks for the replies guys glad to see much like for the banjo, such a fun instrument! (well at least i think it is from what i've seen )
 7.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s. The 80s in particular were notable for the complete sh*te that was being produced. The sh*te is now pretty much considered quality music.
I don't think all hope was lost by the 80s. There's a lot i like from that era but i definitely think it got worse from there on, with more good music sinking into the background. Particularly with the rise of god damn celebrity musicians. Even Micheal Jackson for example, although he made good music he was more famous for what he did rather than what he played. And now as a result of that we have people who are famous just for being famous. Celebrities definitely play a big part in what I think is wrong with this world
 8. Ima relatively young person and most of my favorite music is 40 or so years old. Luckily my dad showed me alot. HOWEVER its not just a cult thing. There alot of good music out today but you just have to find it. Its just that what i see a good quality music was more prominent 40 years ago. Today its shrouded by rubbish. Even if you do hate (for example) Justin bieber or someone, there's so much hating that goes on that it makes him big in the public view even if it is because everyone hates him. It still shrouds good bands. Ignoring bad music has to be encouraged otherwise it will remain big forever. Justin bieber may have many dislikes on his youtube video but he has the most views of any video on the site. Hated, but youtube views make money so still big and producing. Anyway that's my view
 9. Does anyone know a thing or two about banjos? I'm looking to spend £300-500 Looking for one with a resonator with metal tone ring, 5 strings and preferably some nice pearl fret-board inlays I have found this http://www.gak.co.uk...250-banjo/30492 and this http://www.guitarcen...244-i1149582.gc which is better? any other suggestions? Cheers Adam
 10.
Thanks! I'd play it more if it wasn't so bloody heavy! If you want one your best bet is to keep an eye out on Ishibashi's U-Box, but be prepared for a long wait as Yamaha only made 50 of these.
wow only 50? you must feel awesome having one, makes me want it more. I have a RBX774, not as rare but i still love it *edit* btw what's the bass actually called? *end edit*
 11.

Wow! pretty amazing bass. I love the white yamaha pickups and the gold metalwork. Maybe one day.....

Its quite old as well 1994. Not sure where he lives either. Haha, I have no idea what i'm doing
 13. I like the sound of this 'SWR super redhead' any idea where i could get one?
 14.
Welcome dude.
Thanks man
Welcome Man, Rock and metal all the way dude, Not sure how Sabbath would sound with some slap bass.......you should give it a go. Cheers Leen
Haha, I tend to keep them separate but i might give it a go someday

 16.
I chose the Markbass after spending many months trying countless rigs from Ashdown, SWR, Ampeg, Trace Elliot, GK, Eden, Phil Jones, Euphonic Audio & a few others. A lot of them make good rigs & it's down to what You like the sound of. I like the MB as it handles whatever I want from it & it's probably the loudest combo I've ever used.
ahh it seems i need to go try some things down the shop then. Although you come into problems when you want to buy second hand but you can't try it because its not in the shops
 17.
I heard 15s are more punchy too! It depends on what it is (how well it's been designed, etc). My 2x10 has a lot more bass than the 2x15 I had before. A 1x12 combo with a 1x12 cab under it can be a very good rig. Especially if you're playing in tight spaces.
haha, don't mind me with my lack of knowledge of bass amps Is your 2x10 the Markbass CMD102P? or something different?
 18.
easy. I like 12ers better than 10ers and a 12" cab or combo is usually much lighter.
do they sound better to you? i've read that 10s are more punchy
 19.
I'd choose a good 1x12" combo and maybe an additional extension cab. if I 'd ever had to choose a combo...
Why would you do that over a 2x10? Not being confrontational or anything i just don't know
 20. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll have a look through the for-sale section on BC just found this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-Bass-Combo-Amp-7210H-Serviced-Sep-2012-300w-/190748396492?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item2c697d8bcc&_uhb=1 Any good? I like the style of the Trace Elliots and the frequency response sliders for boosting certain things.
 21. Hi, I joined a few months back but didn't notice this and haven't posted much. Anyway, I'm from the Berkshire, England and I've been playing guitar for about 10 years now and i picked up bass about 3 or 4 years ago. I enjoy rock and metal particularly enjoy playing to black sabbath but have been getting into some slap bass recently. Leading onto my bass which is a Yamaha RBX774 in blue which is a blast to slap Alas i have a rubbish amp but i am looking into getting another, I have started a thread if you want to take a look. Thanks
 22. I was having a look on the interwebs to try and buy my first decent bass amp I saw this trace Elliot http://www.traceelliot.com/bassamps/?item=116932 which I looked up after seeing how popular they were on ebay I sorta figured a 2x10 wouldn't be too expensive to start with But i was startled to find it costs £1500 I was only looking at spending £400 max I really have no idea where to start. What would you guys get with that sort of money? cheers
 23. Hi, I've been playing bass for a few years now and I moved up from a rubbish starter bass to a yamaha RBX 774 a year or two ago. I really like my bass and i don't think its going anywhere, anytime soon. However I don't have a good amp at all. Mainly because when i go to gigs i use the one on stage so it doesn't really matter. So I've played with a Peavey Bassic 112 75watt combo amp before http://www.musicians...ombo-amp#review and I really like the slap sound, its simply amazing but 1. its old so i can't find anywhere to buy it 2. I've read that it distorts a lot when turned up and looses all the clarity of its tone (i don't know if this is true because i can't turn it up all the way at school) Anyway i can't find it so I'd rather have an alternative. Would this new version of the 112 be any good for slap? http://www.peavey.co...3B%26nbsp%3B112 Or could anyone suggest any alternatives? -I would like it to be good at all styles but if the budget won't stretch just good for slap bass -The budget is about £200 maybe up to £250 if its good Thanks in advance
 24. got my new 774 in blue it looks fantastic, amazingly it was the last of a batch that this shop got years ago so it brand new! (but still quite old obviously) i need to adjust the truss rod as i get fret buzz on some frets cause the strings are too close to the board. However the question is do i loosen or tighten the truss rod to make the neck more curved? as for boost switch it dosen't seem to make much difference just makes it a tad louder and i don't know if i have the battery problem because i haven't had it long enough to tell cheers
