  1. Wonder what the sellers favourite type of moosic is?
  2. That twang of annoyance everytime I hear 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' knowing I'll never be able to play it as cleanly as Norman 😅

that riff in call me al .... near impossible.  But heard a South African bass player name of Schalk Joubert a few years back who can do that and any other S African township riff to order.  Amazing player.  5-string bart rigged afzelia dolphin into a little SWR working man combo.  Sounded great.

As for "hit me" saw Norm playing that in our local music pub a couple of years back ... blow me .. but have you seen the length of that guy's fingers!!

Fun fact about that lick in Call Me Al - it's backwards. Recorded then played in reverse in the record, hence why it's impossible as the phrasing is, well, backwards 😁😂

that is SO cheating. And all these years never knew that. Still fairly bonkers player though. You have to spend years locked away from polite society to come out playing like that. Bit like Alan Rankine on 'Party fears two'... "That's not really how we do it, son".

  3. £1,049 for 4 string £1,149 for 5 string
  4. It's an interesting move to get into the £1000 bracket. They seem to clean up around about £500-600 as Fender alternatives but then when you enter the USA Fender/Sandberg/G&L/Lakland territory - albeit with the boutique look - will be interesting to see how these stack up. Can't deny they look great - roasted maple!
  5. We obviously can't speak for the OP but I understand his "not wanting" the bass as he wasn't looking for that exact bass and had justified a bid of £250 and no more for it. Part of him must have wanted that bass to press the button and it was an unexpected result. He has said he'll buy it and there might be a bargain available for the next person 😁
  6. Feel free to PM if you have a trade! Must have missed that comment @ped 😁
  7. I think this might be the furthest off topic I've seen a thread go on Basschat 😂
  8. Here's an idea - if you don't get on with it if you get it. Put it back on eBay and anything over the price you paid goes to a charity. Nobody loses there.
  9. Think I just found the listing and it looks like a corker. Even if it's sits on a stand for a while I really don't think you can lose money on it - it is definitely worth £250.
  10. Hmmm, that 614 is nice - if you feel like parting with it let me know
  11. Don't have scales to hand but looking at similar models I'd say around 9lbs so 4kg(ish). If I can give you a more accurate weight I will!
  12. Being sold with a heavy heart, I've had her for 10 glorious years - but it just doesn't get used and I don't connect with it anymore. MY G&L L2000 - the white now a lovely vintage cream - some fabulous flame on the maple too. She's in great condition for being 35 years old - I've shown the staining from what I can guess is guitar stand use but that was there when I bought it. Also some tarnishing on the control knobs but gives it some mojo. As with all G&Ls this is POWERFUL - the MFD pickups put out a lot of kick but in tandem with the EQ this bass can do almost anything you need it to. Strung with almost brand new NYXL which are great. UPDATE: Weight is 4.61kg! Comes with a fitted hardcase and wee treat showing that it had a new nut in 1988 in the USA so it must have been there at some point. Try me with trades - but cash is King. Shipping is possible, but with couriers being couriers collection is preferred. Can discuss meeting somewhere if that's an option. Please feel free to ask any questions
  13. Nice! I assume you have seen the Yamaha BB thread? There is info about reversing the saddles, particularly on the B string to get some more attack - might be worth having a look.
  14. If you're in Glasgow I'm sure GuitarGuitar have one of each of the ranges of MM. Stick your head in and play them, they don't seem to mind how long you're there for. Or buy and return as others have said.
  15. Your ability to find the weird and wonderful Yamaha models never fails to impress Andy. Looks ace!
  16. Can't deny these are beautiful instruments! That Hadrien model looks incredible.
  17. Works for me, will age nicely if you plan on keeping it. I've been wanting a shell pink bass for ages but I'm waiting for the new Flea signature model to see if that could be the one.
  18. Oh yes, forgot about that thread! Think I have the very one @vmaxblues sorted out
  19. Resurrecting this thread again! Tried to adjust the pickups today and found they are very firmly stuck in - have any of the owners encountered this? Cheers!
  20. Afternoon all I've had this Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk for a few years now and finally got round to sorting out the difference in volume from the pickups, or so I thought. The neck pickup is roughly 0.4cm from the strings the bridge was ~0.6cm. Started to loosen the screws in the pickups expecting them to gently rise up as usual, nothing. After taking the screws out there was no springs and both pickups seem very much stuck in place. Any ideas how to remove these without damaging them? Thanks!
  21. Stunning bass! I was down last Nov and tried one as they just look so good and the pros who use them sound amazing, didn't quite do it for me but I think you need some more time than a quick play through headphones to work it out. Maybe in the future....
  22. From what I've heard it's very much luck of the draw quality and execution wise. If you can find a seller that has a good grasp of English then you can maybe communicate what exactly you are looking for otherwise you get what might be a guitar - might be pieces of wood joined together
  23. For fans of Joe Dart. He's on the cover of Bass Guitar Mag and there's a special edition that comes with a Joe Dart t-shirt https://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/music/bass-guitar-back-issues/bass-guitar-170-joe-dart-t-shirt-bundle/ I would be all over this but the t-shirt is a LARGE ONLY so no use to me. Might be useful to others!
