1. I'd go for the Modulus out of the two. However, I've never really loved the $$ basses. Streamers and Thumbs are much better and I would probably take one of those over the Modulus. Horses for courses, and all that!
2. Yeah, I still think about getting a Jaydee from time to time, whe I'm feeling in a bit of a Level 42 mood. Mind you, that usually lasts until I see a Status and then I'm off again...buying another one!
3. It would be very cool if you could get that bass back. I still wonder where my old Status Stealth 6 string and my Kubicki Ex Factor #1777 ended up.
4. It is indeed blue...enjoy!
5.
Wow, just found this pic, it is actually a Spector in disguise! lol http://upload.wikime...reamer_1983.JPG
Even if you compare old Spectors and Streamers, they sound 'different', but there is not the gulf between them then like there is now. This old walnut bodied Spector with Bartolini pickups sounds like a 'hot' Streamer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aK-QFwaRZc
6. Maybe once I've got a new car sorted!
7. Jesus, I love that bass!
8. I'm sure Leduc have done a bass with the extended fingerboard like that too, before Ritter did.
9.
Used to play them until I went on to Status...... but they are fantastic instruments. Always wanted a 5 string Calibas Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Yes, I should add that overall I've always preferred Status basses, even for doing Mark King impressions on. But then Status make some of the best instruments around!
10.
The entire 'Graceland' album by Paul Simon. Get the Live DVD too!
Yes, amazing album and a great dvd too.
11. I think they're pretty decent. I've always wanted one, but then been put off buying them in the past as I am told some can have very thin necks that bend like mad and need constant adjustment.
12.
Personally I'd take that over a warwick anyday. A one off whereas ww's are ten a penny, so to speak.
Well, I should add that my Warwick is a limited edition model from 1990, from the private collection of Warwickhunt no less...I'd consider it a rare find and one of the best Warwicks you could find! But my ACG has been with me a while, and it's awesome. Those filters are just the thing for when you want to fiddle and create sounds!
13. Good grief. I just sat down and looked at the ACG for about 5 minutes before having a little play. I had forgotten how amazing the craftsmanship is and how great it sounds. This is no longer for sale, I have to take this down before I make a huge mistake! I'd never find another like it. How silly I have been. My apologies to everyone who was interested.
14. This Arrowhead stuff is pretty cool, I've never heard it before! If you can be bothered to listen to Allan Holdsworth noodling (I can't most of the time) then check out the 'All Night Wrong' live album. Jimmy is pretty superb on that.
15. Michael used to be the bassist from the Windham Hill label back in the 80's and has a massive list of sessions to his name. It's a shame we don't hear more of his traditional bass playing, as he is superb player. However, I really like his solo stuff too.
16. Personally, I would not pay that sort of money to see a covers band. You can usually see the real band for less!
17. Nice to see some of these Spectors. I remember playing an NT Euro at Sound Control Newcastle years ago, back when it seemed properly 'top spec' and came with a price tag of £1000! Crazy to think of the prices on these jumping up. I used to have an amazing Rebop DLX 4 model with a Zebrano top and a high gloss finish that cost me £549 new at Sound Control Preston. Crazyily cheap, they cost double that last time I looked!
18. I'm sure many, many luthiers could perform this task for you. However, the price may be surprisingly hefty, as I recall one luthier saying it was a right twat of a job and took ages to get right.
19. That Thumb is a bery cool bass. Not keen on the other one though. Now, if only Jack Bruce could play them! I remember buckets of scorn being poured on his awful fretless playing years ago on Talkbass, when you were allowed to dislike things there.
20. There will be a big difference. Thumbs play different to Streamer, especially the Streamer standard of which it will feel noticeably more 'high end'. They also sound very different and it is quite true that there is nothing else that really sounds like a Thumb, not even the Ovangkol bodied Dolphins! Really, I think you're just going to have to try one and see what you think. I love them, have had one in the past and I would have another.
21. Lazy one bump.
22. I always say: "when there is nothing better around, a Jazz Bass might do the job".
23. end of nightshift bump.
24. Kingbasses never last long here!
