1. Any sound clip comparison for this most recent test. I am particularly interested having a 210 focus providing the sound for my Genz Benz Streamliner 600.
2. One of these yamaha beasties is definitely on my shopping list. For home practice and doubling up as an MP3 speaker and usb interface it looks and sounds great.
3.
Nice bass. Shame its wasted on Nate Mendel - a guy who plays 8th note roots whilst uncharismatically staring at the floor. Its not like he's got a hard job is it? Terrible bass player!
How to pointlessly hijack someone's happy NBD post! A wee bit jealousy here no?! The bass looks splendid. I tried one when I got my new bass earlier in the year. Sounded immense and the neck is excellent. Very comfy.
4. Confused. Y'know the knuckled test where you tap the side of the cab and a good one will give you a quickly absorbed thud and a bad one will resonate, well, in that link there Orange say they have a pleasingly reverberating enclosure. Does this make it an inherently poor cab design?
5. That is excellent. How did it go with the knuckle test? What heads are you mating with it?
6. I've been thinking about swapping my Genz Streamliner 600 for an ABM. This makes me think about it even more.
7. Hello chaps Will get a pic up tomorrow evening. In middle of house move at the moment. Some interesting reading you have thrown my way, will need to find time to sift through it. Cheers
8. Have a great break. Sketching on the beach?
9.
Not really, it slightly reduces the size of the baffle. It is intended to make it out of thicker ply to keep the construction simple. However Its up to constructors to add whatever bracing they want, that's the joy of home building. There's already enough data here for anyone to build the cab if they already have basic carpentry skills.
Can anyone point me to the posts in the thread that explain correct dimensions for the cab? I am obviously blind. Silly me. Or if it's the volume of the can that counts and dimensions are min and max can someone put a summary up so it's really easy to find. Thanks, Garry
10. Hi Phil, On a slightly different note, does the design have bracing to the back panel of the cabinet from the sides, or is it only that cross shaped structure to stop the sides of the cab moving in and out?
11. Yeah, something like that might work. Will go and listen to sound samples on YouTube. That's the kinda price I was thinking.
12. Hi Found two old beat up Ibanez Roadstar guitars in a skip a while back and have managed to get one of them into semi decent working order. It is definitely road worn, but all natural. Anyhow, I have locked down the bridge as the tremelo system seemed poor and was missing its lever anyway. Next up is to replace the dodgy switch for pickup selection and to replace the neck pickup. So, as I know he haw about guitars, who can recommend a decent low cost nexk pup for a strat style old Ibanez? Thanks, Garry
13. Hope it's audio is mixed better than that trailer. Just listened with my headphones and it is all over the shop.
14. Pearl Jam. No doubt. Lots of writing, touring, playing to a solid passionate audience. Based in Seattle too , lovely part of the world.
15. Led Zeppelin, Immigrant Song. First LZ song I heard, bought second hand on that old black plastic format from a second hand record shop in Edinburgh called Vynil Villains when I was about 13. Used to get a bus and a train to get there with a school friend when we were at school. Bought it because I had heard of some band called Led Zeppelin and this had the best album cover and got home, stuck it on and heard those first bellows from Robert Plant. .......... AH Aaaaaaaaah Aaaah. AH Aaaaaaaaaaaah Aaah
16. Jeff Ament (amazingly fitting bass lines with feeling) Geddy Lee (obviously) Billy Sheehan (how does he do that?!) Emma Richardson (simple fitting bass lines and great voice) Mike Dirnt Michael Anthony (under rated and VH my favourite band) James Johnstone ( driving bass lines) Nate Mendel (puts up with Grohl and Hawkins without moaning) Richie Kotzen (plays some amazing bass lines on his solo stuff) jpj for being magic
17. Hope he resurrects the Focus range of cabs. I need another to go with my Streamliner.
18. This all sounds like great progress. I wonder if the natural mid bump will help me punch through more against three guitars with my Genz Streamliner. I am drink rely going to make one of these. Time to start ordering parts. Where's best to get the driver from? Lots of hardwork from you guys, well done. Cheers, Garry
19. What about the Catalinbread S6f pedals?
20.
Well, after using it for a bit now, I can say I'm really glad I bought it. It works really well with a Precision to add a little bit of "something"... some light drive that doesn't sound clearly overdriven but increases the "growl" and definition whilst retaining the big low end... I love this pedal!
Same boat here.
21. Here is a quick YouTube video of one of our recent songs for those who prefer YouTube to Soundcloud. The song is called Simmer. https://youtu.be/YF_hQ0HnjXo
22.
Not heard of this, tell me more please
Think you should search Google for Monte Allums. Tonnes of great info. You pay the money and he sends you replacement caps, led's, etc... If you are ok with a soldering iron the instructions are fairly easy to follow. Took me about 30 mins to make the mod and I am not the best with a soldering iron. Mod brings the gain under control somewhat and the three way switch opens up many tonal options. It works great with guitar too.
23. I made the Monte Allums mod to my ODB3, did everything you describe in your first post here. It transformed the pedal into something much more usable and controllable.
