  1. Curious fact: The people of Dubai don't like The Flintstones. Nobody knows why, it could be some long-held fear of Hanna-Barbera animations. Even more curiously the people of Abu Dhabi Do!
  2. Hi folks SOLD ELSEWHERE Up for sale here is my MIJ P bass in gloss black. The bass is in good condition overall with just some dings and marks on the body. The fretboard is a beautiful piece of dark Rosewood and with the dark tort p/guard looks great, a classic look. It is only for sale as I am coveting another bass that is f/s. If I miss out I will withdraw this from sale immediately! I think the pickguard is an upgrade by a previous owner. In addition the bass now sports an Alan Dingwall ‘Bravewood’ P pickup. The pickup was new when I acquired it on this forum (from @walshy) and sounds great. Really nails the vintage P bass tone to my ears. The bass weighs just under 9lbs by my scales and is currently wearing some flatwounds and will come with a fairly basic but pretty new gig bag. As it's not full original (pickup and probably the pickguard) I'm going to offer it at a decent price to you good people. Price is £725 collected from me. I'll deliver within 50 miles for free, and will be happy to travel further for some petrol money. I do have some packaging and a hardcase now so I post for a contribution towards the hard case & P&P costs. Some pics below but please let me know if you want to see anything in more detail:
  3. Hrrmmm. Become powerful you have, the dark side in you I sense.
  4. Nice bass @Henrythe8 The colour and inlays look similar to those used on the Sandberg California II TSBS bass that I own.
  5. Novels can be a fertile hunting ground. Off the top of my head (but most because I've just lent it to my daughter) J G Ballard's "Drowned World"
  6. Sorely tempted TBH.
  7. Does your Pulse II have the Junior TP in still or have you swapped it out and what do you think of the bass?
  8. On the Sandberg theme, this one at BassBros used to be mine and is highly flexible with Darkglass EQ and pickup coil switch. https://bassbros.co.uk/product/sandberg-california-ii-vm2-dark-hawk-4/
  9. Yup, that's the badger. When I bought the bass it had a Quarter Pounder p/up fitted, but I managed to find the actual original pickup set on here after a lot of digging around (thanks people, you know who you are) and restored it back to it's original state. I know what you mean about P basses. I did have 5 though (now 2) which I think you'll find is even more than @ash of this very parish who, at the last count, had 756 of them.
  10. That might be my old one, a very reluctant sale but I had too many P basses. Will has helped me a great deal in slimming down the herd and has been brilliant to deal with.
  11. I agree, whilst they don't do the stereo thing and have less knobs they are very usable with a nice(r) bridge and great playabilty.
  12. Not really sure I want to do this but here goes... Rickenbacker 4004Cii Cheyenne Bass Guitar Introduced in 1994 the Cheyenne is one of Rickenbacker’s newest models; the Cii was introduced 5 years later 1999. This is a 2012 bass in Jetglo with Gold hardware. It is in excellent condition for a 10-year-old bass, with one tiny ding that I have repeatedly tried to photograph to no avail. The frets are virtually unmarked and electrics are fully functional. The bass comes with the original Rickenbacker hardcase and case candy. The weight is 9.03 lbs. Rickenbacker now use only American farm-grown sustainable woods. This exquisite bass is sculpted from solid Maple and Walnut, complemented by an Eastern Maple neck running the full length of the bass with a rich gloss clear coat. Two humbucking pickups are carefully placed for maximum tonal capability. Probably looking at meeting up half way or collection if you're nearby as I'm reluctant to post this one, plus I don't have a box at the moment. Happy to consider trades with cash my way. Probably only 4-string basses though and I might be a bit picky, but I will always be polite if a bass offered is not for me. Price is £2,250. I will consider near offers but again don't be disappointed if I decline. Full Specification Body Type: Solid No. Frets: 20 Scale Length: 84.5 cm (33 1/4'') Neck Width at Nut: 42.9 mm (1 11/16'') Neck Width at 12th Fret: 54.0 mm (2 1/8'') Crown Radius: 25.4 cm (10'') Body Wood: Hardrock Maple, Walnut core Neck Wood: Maple Fingerboard Wood: Bubinga, unfinished Bridge: Schaller 3D4 Neck Type: Through body No. of Pickups: 2 x HB-1 Humbucking Output Type: Mono Machine Heads: Schaller M4 180 Light Here are some pics. Let me know if there is any other detail you'd like to see. Thanks for looking.

  14. Just acquired a gig bag. Easy transaction, great comms great deal.
  15. The struggle is real.
  16. Quite like me then (apart from the slab front)
  17. I might have accidentally just bought it
  18. It's a replica of Sting's #1 '57 transition P bass.
  19. not sure of the guy's name but he from Staffs somewhere.
  20. I love a P bass. Currently using a 1980 Greco Spacy Sound and this bitsa for a more vintage vibe.

    ACG build

    Nearly done now...
  22. The TT Mark 2 (started a couple of three years ago) is definitely smaller and possibly a tad thinner than a Fender J bass. My TT is pretty light too at bang on 8lbs (3.6kgs) and it's a 'standard' version rather than a Superlight. Just to note that Sandberg will do other colours not necessarily shown on the configurator. For example I enquired about a Beatsteaks bass in colurs other than yellow and that would not have been a problem so you may well be able to get the Martin Mendez bass not in white. Again Mark at Classic and Cool is your friend here as he was the person who enquired about the non yellow Beatsteaks bass.
  23. I've a TT4 J bass and a Greco P that I could measure for you if you think that would be helpful, but not comparing apples with apples in this instance.
