1. For sale is this rather lovely VIntage V1004SPFL bass manufactured in 2009. The bass in very good condition and features through-neck construction with a spalted maple top and mahogany wings. It has a J/MM pickup combination and active 2-band electronics. All hardware is good quality Wilkinson parts in gold and the bass is strung with D'Addario flat wound strings. Here are a couple of pics. Plenty more are available on request. Our very own Machines reviewed one of it's fretted cousins on the forum here: http://basschat.co.u...intage-v1004dx/ I'm looking for £225 incl. padded gig bag. Collection is preferred so you can see the bass in detail before buying, however I have a sturdy guitar box so can post by courier at additional cost. Thanks for looking and please PM me if you are interested.
2.
Just found this - http://cpc.farnell.c...904?Ntt=sw02904 You can get them in 3 different sizes - 16mm, 22mm or 28mm food for thought............
These look like they are for a 1/4" shaft, I'm after 6mm sadly. Good looking knobs though (can I say that on a Sunday?)
3. I saw the BBG knobs and for smaller orders they are definitely cheaper than the Sadowsky items, but once you get to a certain number the Sadowsky ones are definitely cheaper. I'll have a look at the Farnell items, thanks Chris. Atm it's just you and me though
4. Can any of you cognoscenti confirm whether a 'normal' 3-knob control plate has the same dimensions and screw hole locations as the 4-knob control plate? Supplementary question; does the 4-knob control plate have a 5th hole for the jack socket or are they routinely drilled through the body? Cheers
5. I have one of the V1004 fretless beasties with a spalted maple top that I think represents excellent value, particularly second hand. Nice to play and pretty well put together too imho.
6. For those who were mentioning fretless versions of the range, I just saw this on evilbay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Overwater-Active-Electric-fretless-Bass-Guitar-taken-in-exchange-NEW-condition-/400323104008?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5d351dcd08
7. There's the black hardware too on the SR600. If you don't mind ex demo there's an SR600 from Thomann for just under £400 here... http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_sr600_ntf_b_stock_2.htm
8.
Which songs from the recent album did they do?
1 then 2 to open the show and 5 to close (pre encore)
9. It's OK I guess, reminds me a bit too much of I Want to Break Free and other Queen stuff in places, and thus I found it a bit derivative.
10. Any love for Swedish prog on here? Good gig last night in a very nice venue that I had not visited previously. Timothy Taylor's Landlord on too so happy all round.

12.
Liverpool, for me.
I shall try to remember to wear my BC polo or something bass related if you fancy meeting up for general introductions etc.
13. Cheers Rumple and EBS_freak. I'm after the stacked version too but couldn't see them on the website but will keep searching.
14. These look quite attractive and I'm contemplating a purchase. http://www.sadowsky.com/store/electronic-parts.html The downside is the P&P charge of $34.77, so I wondered if anybody was interested in adding to the order and reducing the unit cost? Please let me know if you're interested and I'll act as agent on a no fee basis! I would propose dividing the postage cost by the number of parts ordered, stacked knobs would be counted as two units. I have found very similar looking items on Best Bass Gear, but whilst their postage is free the parts cost more. The BBG items are cheaper if you order <10, breakeven is around 10-12 knobs depending on the mix after which the Sadowsky items are cheaper. I've not managed to locate anything similar in the UK, but if anybody knows where I can acquire them please would you let me know.
15. Ticket for Liverpool booked, CD ordered, happy bunny!
16.
Thinking of sticking a set of flats on my old 79 Overwater with twin HBs, any recommendations? It has a bit of a dead spot, would this help or hinder that issue or make no difference? BB ps no experience of flats whatsoever so far
Can't help with the dead spot issue, but the Fender 9050s get good press here although I've not tried them myself yet. I've enjoyed using Picato flats on a fretted bass too, although at the moment I'm using TI JF345s on my fretted 5-string and the corresponding JF344 on my fretless.
17. Feel The Force of the bass Master Luke. Do not be tempted by the Dark Side.
18. I have no such worries, I just enjoy playing in the band.
19.
McVie and Entwhisle aren't fancy players but played Alembic..but yeah, roots on a fancy top is a bit naff. The basses are a bit 'look at me' so you should have a bit of a trick or two...IMO.
That's me buggered then I've been saving for ages and sold a couple of basses to be able to commission an ACG fretless to play. I'd be highly flattered if somebody described my playing as 'utilitarian'.
20. Sadly I never saw PG do Supper's Ready, but did see the Seconds Out tour when Mr Collins did a passable impression. Great song though; I think Foxtrot is one of life's essential albums for proggies.
21. I did a search for the topic and not much showed up so I thought I'd start a topic. I met Drew last week when I popped in (by appointment) to have a look at some basses. What a nice person and a good selection of basses to drool over (and carefully wipe down afterwards). I'd definitely recommend a visit to all of us NW based players and any tourists who don't mind the rain, the pies and the wippets. Excellent cup of tea and a chat too. The really worrying thing is I drive home passing within less than 1 mile of the Lounge every day . I feel much castigation from the sainted Mrs ead will be coming my way. ....and yes, Drew did 'make' me buy a bass. Pic to follow.

23. I can only endorse what has been said above. Great basses, excellent value for what your money buys you.
24. Purchased some La Bella strings. Perfect gent, very easy to deal with. Thanks very much Ryan.
