1. Max just purchased some straplocks from me. Quick payment, very easy and professional to deal with. Thanks very much.
2. Oh yes, Firth of Fifth, when Steve's solo starts still sends shivers up my spine when I hear it - those white lights on the album cover didn't half singe my hair when they were turned though. Going to see Steve on his Genesis Revisited II tour next year.
3.
Does it matter? The scope of music these days is wide and diverse and pop/chart music is fast becoming an insignificant blip. Besides there's no law that says every piece of music needs to have a bass instrument of some description on it. There has been plenty of music throughout the ages (and not just limited to pop and rock) that was composed without bass and works perfectly well that way. Personally I think it's very presumptuous of the OP to consider writing bass parts for recorded songs that don't have them and were obviously written and arranged in such a way that the composer/writers felt that bass parts were unnecessary. In the (almost) 40 years that I have been writing music, I've written and recorded a lot of songs with no bass guitar on them and some of those don't have any bass instrument at all, because IMO they were complete without it. OTOH I've also written songs where the bass was the dominant instrument and the others were reduced to little more than sonic embellishments. It's all about knowing what is right of the song and the style of the music. If as a bass guitarist you feel that your role on music is under threat than maybe you should consider learning another instrument or how to program synths and sequencers. However IMO you are over-reacting. Musicians have worried about being replaced by technology since the 70s and guess what? All but the most incompetent are still here and playing.
+1 Also who says what is good music and what is not, surely it's all subjective. I brought my kids up along the lines of there is music you like, music you really don't like and all point in between; your opinion is exactly that and carries no more validity than anybody elses.
4. Sorry missed your post. It took a week or two but all landed safely.
5. "Just the Schallers left" type bump.
6. Just acquired a rather nice Fenix bass. Great transaction, simple and quick. As has already been stated above many times, Stuart is highly recommended to all BCers and a top bloke. Thanks very much.

ACG build

9. Anybody catch Polica on Jools this week just gone - rather liked that and have CD on order. Also, how many 70s style natural basses with black pickguards!
10. My ACG will have TIs on when it lands. Also trying out some Fender CL9050s on an old Jazz, they seem very nice too but only had them for a week so too early to report properly - slightly heavier gauge than the TIs at 45/60/80/105.
11.
Not an easy album to track down these days ...
A few on Amazon for not too much dosh - In fact one less now as after reading this thread again I've invested in "Sneaking Sally...", "In the Right Place" and a Meters complilation CD as all my vinyl was stolen a few years back so replacing as I remember (or am prompted)
12. I've got a Microthumpinator, Pitch Black tuner, Pearl Octaver, EBS distortion, EBS unichorus and an Aguilar compressor. Can't remember if that's the order exactly though.
13. +1 on the TI flats: 43/56/70/100. I'm also trying a set of Fender CL9050 flats 45/60/80/105 on my Jazz. The other bass has Nickel Slinky's 40 55 75 100, not hyper light but lighter.
14. Great band that I suspect influenced a great many acts that followed without necessarily getting the credit they deserved.
15. Well it's been to have the black refinish removed and underneath we found this after removing a bit of ply top and bottom. Not solid, but not unattractive either and still sounds fantastic! Plus Kiogon made me a rather splendid stacked knob jazz setup.
16. John made me a vintage style twin stacked knob jazz plate. Awesome (much overused, but justified here) piece of kit. Top quality, brilliant service and endless patience answering my questions. Truly a top banana of the BC world.
17. My personal preference would be midnight wine with parchment p/g. It's far and away my favourite Fender scheme. Leaving now...
18. Thanks mart, good info and thanks for taking the time to explain.
19. I saw this on 'the bay' and wondered if anybody could give me any more info about it please. Also how does it compare to the Spector NS2000B f/s on this very forum? 21. Ben has just acquired my Yamaha BBN5 bass. Great to deal with, plenty of PMs and prompt payment. I highly recommend him to all in the BC community.
22. Thanks for that, good knowledge.
23. Can I have a bit of advice on this bass please as it's something I'd be interested in?
