  1. Have bought three basses (with trades) from BD plus strings and other accessories over the last five years or so. I have tended to visit there with a purchase lined up. Service was completely professional and straightforward. Unique and high quality range of basses compared with other stores in the U.K., as far as I can tell. Wouldn't hesitate recommending them, particularly relative to experience with other musical instrument shops.
  2. I would definitely try before buying when stood up. They are lovely sounding basses, but I've never been able to get on with the balance when standing. The first fret has always felt too 'far away'.
  3. Watched this last night and thought it was extremely sad, particularly with respect to the impact of his deterioration and early death on his family. In my view, the focus was on these aspects rather than his musical impact when he was in his prime. I'm not saying that it's not a good documentary, but it's certainly not an easy watch. I haven't watched the second disc yet, which may have more of his music on it.
  4. Weekend bump and open to offers.
  5. Bump and will throw in a short Comfort Strapp. I've had some enquiries about trades and would consider reissue Custom Shop or AV Precisions (60's) and J's (60's or 70's), with sensible cash adjustment either way. Possibly also Sadowsky J's (Metro or NYC). Otherwise mainly interested in a sale.

I bought the bass earlier in the year and it has only been used for recording or left in the case. In terms of condition, it is essentially immaculate bar a minute amount of surface paint wear on part of the headstock (shown in photo). In practice it is hardly noticeable. Please PM me for more details. Happy to send by courier in the UK at buyer's expense or deliver within 50-100 miles of Bristol. Payment by bank transfer or Paypal. Thanks, Jude
  7. 45 minutes sounds fairly heavy for a bass solo set! Why not transcribe a less well known classical piece if you've got time? I could imagine something like Gershwin's first piano prelude working well on bass - I'm just not good enough to work out how to do it. I think Chromatic Fantasy is a good one - the original Bach score is easily available, although I think Jaco plays it too quickly!
