2. totally blown away by your skill and determination, top class job, enjoyed the read, well done bud.
3. I love em!......I have 2 CV P's a black/ maple with flats and a fiesta red/ rosewood with rounds on.
4. NOW SOLD Here we have a Black 3 ply Squier Vintage Modified Precision scratchplate. It has a few minor swirl marks, nothing serious just a used plate. It is pictured on a Squier VM P body but also fits CV Squier and most Fender P's. £11 inc free postage.

7. Would beg to differ on 'cheap bass'....in terms of price yes, but not quality good Vintage (brand) instruments are IMO comparable with the top Squier stuff, a £35 Gotoh 201 would be a good addition to your bass and add a little weight.
8. I had the reliced sunburst one a couple of years ago, if I remember it weighed about 8.5 lbs, no problem with neck dive as far as I remember. Traded it in for my Matt Freeman Squier and didn't notice any huge difference in weight. IMO, if it plays and sounds nice maybe try to add a little weight in the pickup to pot route under the scratchplate, also maybe a Hi-mass bridge would help. Believe it or not some players seek out light weight P basses, some older Fenders are heavey (10 -12 ibs) but 8 - 9 ibs is about the norm.

13. Looks similar to a Jap P copy I bought in 79/80, truss rod adjuster was like that, mine was white but if I remember correctly the only colour choice for mine was white or sunburst. Mine had no name on the headstock, but was a quality bass and sounded good, unfortunately the only pic i've got of mine is a bit grainy from a distance, am following this thread with interest. Someone once told me who had a strat from the same series that they were prototype unbranded Jap Fenders but I never found out if there was any truth in it (probably not), or just somebody trying to big up the instruments at the time, 82ish.
14. I have a Ashdown Tourbus 15 for the very same purpose as you are wanting an amp for. Really glad I bought it, nice tone (for a small amp) well made, light weight and IMO very good value. I paid £70 with a five year warranty.

16. Or buy a cheap used Squier Precision and Jazz, swap the necks, sell on the Jazz & P neck as a bass, keep the other. If you stick with VM's or CV's you can't go wrong. I've just put a CV neck on a VM body, fit damn near perfect. Total build cost me about £175. Edit; there's an American site called Talkbass.com. on there are sections called 'tricked out Squiers' and 'Squier perfect fit replacement parts' there is a guy who put a VM maple/blocks neck on a fiesta red CV precision body, it looked very nice, do a search you may find it. HTH.
17.
The above, but is it possible that the inside of the gigbag is acrylic fabric and not as smooth as it should be? In that case it would cause some wear, like a very fine sheet of sandpaper, when the bass moves inside the bag. Is the tarnishing localised, or equally evident all over?
Bridge and control plate mainly on the CV although on his cheap jazz the bridge and control plate and tops of the 3 knobs were I think tarnished. He says he cleans his bass after use, he doesn't play a lot of gigs and is not a 'mover' wouldn't have thought a lot of sweat.
18. A friend of mine asked me this question today and I had to admit I have no clue to the reason. ..........He bought a used pretty cheap no name Jazz about a year and a half ago, it came with a nice black canvas padded gig bag from the seller. After a few months he noticed the chrome on the bass tarnishing, nothing too serious but losing it's shine all tne same. Anyway about 4 months ago, he traded the no name in for a Squier CV jazz, he kept the gig bag, so the Squier has lived in it since new. Now he's noticed the chrome on the CV is starting to tarnish aswell, again nothing serious but tarnishing. The gig bag is clean inside and out, immaculate condition, doesn't smell or anything, just an ordinary gig bag, I would have no problem using it. My mate asked me if I thought it was just a coincidence or could the gig bag be possibly causing the tarnishing? anybody have any idea? cheers.
19. A friend of mine had one for a time, might still have it.... haven't seen him for a few months. The last time I played it I was very impressed by the bass, it was the tribute model aswell. Obviously it depends on price of which I have no idea but half an hour searching the net should give you typical new/used prices and reviews. From my experience, id say if you like it and it's a fair price go for it. HTH
