  1. I have a Yamaha BB605 active for sale at the mo. gloss black. plays lovely & sounds very powerful & punchy. It has a spare new set of strings & a padded gig bag. Reason i'm selling is; I have four basses & not much room, two are sentimental (pressents) & one is fretless so the yammy needs to find a new home. Have no pics at the mo, but, if you go to 'basses for sale' section & search BB605 you'll see a natural one to give you an idea. The BB615 replaced the 605 but some people said the BB605 was better, I dont know having not played a BB615. But the 605 is very good. Will sell for £200 inc. P+P, pm me if your interested.

  4. What I said was; take as much advice as poss. before making a decision, THE bass guy in my local store is VERY knoledgable about most things bass, I didn't say they all were. I would like to think that if a bass selling person didn't know how to fix the problem he may know of somebody who does, which comes back to, take plenty of advice.
  5. I understand your predicament!..... if it were mine I would be flapping too!! My advice would be... take as much advice as possible, buy some new strings or a lead or a new strap from your local music store. Ask some questions. The bass guy at my local store is excellent and is very helpfull and really knows his stuff. good luck.
  6. They are all awsome, but my personal favorite is 'A farewell to kings' Xanadu & Cygnus x-1 are BBBBBBBBBBest!
  7. hi all, I have a well made Procore guitar stand that I got chucked in with a second hand bass a couple of years back, it fits and supports my ibanez sr500 perfectly. I cant find any of these stands on the net, not on google anyway. I bought a cheap un-branded stand off ebay (£12 inc. post) total crap!!! not sturdy enough to support a bass although the description said it was for a guitar or bass. I want a good stand suitable for a jazz shape (some of you have perfect looking stands in your pics. in bass porn.) to hold my ibanez & VMJ What do you guys recommend? cygnus x-1
  8. thanks but, not wanting to be a allen key annorack- 3/16 = 4.76mm, 5/32 = 3.96mm so if 4.5mm doesn't fit, I wonder if USA 3/16 is different from UK? looks like i'll have to take the bass to a tool store, thanks for help. cygnus x-1
  9. Anybody any idea what size allen key to use to adjust the truss rod on a vintage modified fretless jazz? 4mm seems too loose, 5mm too big. is it 4.5mm? I dont have one- do they exist? or is it imperial? if so what size. any help apreciated
  10. I know where your coming from, my missus has loads of hand bags (how many do you need?) yet when I look at a bass she say's you've got enough! (I only have 4) A couple of nights ago I had a dream in which I found a black/white plate Rickenbacker for a stupid insane low price at a car boot sale, all I had to do was to get the few pounds it cost out of my pocket and it was mine! Guess what my pockets were sewn up, the cash was inside but I couldn't get to it!!!!!!!!!! I was getting madder and madder but I still couldn't get to the money. while this was happening someone else bought it, SH*T!!!! as the seller passed it to the buyer it turned into a Geddy Lee sig. Jazz. I'm not obsessed with 'the master' Geddy, but I may be obsessed with bass!!!
  11. thanks fellows, theres plenty to study in these replys, will post when I decide what to buy and give my opinion when strings are fitted......cygnus
  12. Correct, I do want something less zingy than rounds but a bit more lively than flats, it's quite a can of worms when you try to find info. I had'nt considered Elixirs, any body using these on fretless....thanks for help thus far............cygnus x-1
  13. I had read this pinned thread, I understand the pro's & cons of rounds v flats but when it comes to internet shopping I dont know which strings are half/semi e.g. are the D'Addario pro steels? I realise its a bit of trial & error but knowing a good place to start helps a lot, thanks, cygnus
  14. One of the things I like about this fellowship is, you can ask a daft question and people dont answer as if you were a numpty (hopefully?... only joking) anyway after having fretted bass for a few years, I decided to get a Squier VMJ fretless. The thing I want to know is, it came with roundwounds fitted and they dont really give me that fretless vibe I was hoping for (a bit zinggy if you know what I mean). I imagine flats might be a bit extreme the other way??, so what do people think of half/semi wounds on a fretless? I've read all the threads I can on here about strings but I'm no clearer. What would you fretless guys recommend and because I would have to buy on the net (local shop only sells rounds) where are the best deals? Thanks in advance, long live Rush...........cygnus x-1
  15. Hi, anybody got any experience of those cheap (£65) swift lined fretless precision copies on e-bay, are they just to cheap to be remotely half decent? I fancy having a try to learn fretless but there doesn't seem to be anything under £200. I wanted to pay about £120 ish. I dont want to pay a lot incase I dont like fretless/can't play it. If I get on OK with fretless I would get a better one as funds allow. Or any ideas on 2nd hand lined fretless to look out for?..Cygnus-x1
