2.
Played the Mod player Jazz today....very impressed, sound and build quality were excellent.....infact I put first dibs on the shops first sunburst one when it arrives, hopefully in the next few days. Pretty hot pickups and punchy tone.
........Picked it up this morning, have only played it in the shop but Very impressed, beautifully made, being Made in China doesn't bother me, I remember when they laughed at Jap stuff inc Fenders. If you had a few mint Jap Fenders under your bed you'd certainly have the last laugh.....
3. I was 11 then, TOTP was a MUST watch for a young music fan, Bowie, Argent, The Sweet, Slade, Alice Cooper, Ram Jam, Geordie, Chicory Tip, Jo Jo Gunne, Edgar Winter, Status Quo....America, Horse with no name, now there's a good song. Happy memories.
4. have read that those dowels you get with plat pak furniture or new kitchin units are very good for this job with a little PVA glue.
5. Hi there, has anybody changed the scratchplate on their Squier VM Precision? If so is there a direct fit replacement out there, I believe the USA plates fit directly on the CV P so is there one that fits the VM P? Cheers.
6.
Okay, let's say I buy a Jazz Deluxe mail order. will there be a thumb rest in the box of will it be already fitted, That goes for the huge pieces of hardware too. Thanks...
would think they would be already fitted... IMO, when you remove the 'tug bar' the holes arn't that noticable especially on darker colour scratchplates.
7. The Jazz I played is £399 and a Squier Matt Freeman Precision is now around £370 so I don't think the price is bad with a Fender logo. For some reason the Blacktops are over £500 and rhe Modern player's seem to be £400?

Nick
10. Dave, says he can't remember which seller, but he's pretty sure it was the same size as a gen Fender one. There are plenty for sale on the bay with dimensional pictures, so a quick compare with a ruler on yours should tell you for definate. There was a post on talkbass, (just can't find it at the mo) of a guy modding a cv jazz, that had a lot of info (he fit a black one) could have been something like; 'perfect fitting parts for Squiers'. hope this helps. Nick.
11. New un-used chrome Hi-Mass bridge with brass saddles, has standard Fender screw mounting holes (70mm between outer holes) and standard Fender 19mm string spacing. Comes with mounting screws and saddle allen key. Ideal upgrade for a lightweight 'bent bit of tin' type bridge or for anybody who wants to change a Squier CV bass to std 19mm string spacing. £20 + £1.50 p+p,
12. If you have a look on eBay you'll see that some of the J control plates for sale have a dimensional drawing in the blurb. You could find a few, take a few mesurments and make a card template of the one thats closest to yours, then, if it's the same you could buy it. A friend of mine also had the same complaint as you on his CV J and he replaced it with a black one off eBay, usually they are available in chrome, black & gold colour so you will probably be ok on eBay, hope this is some help.
13. we could say to you.......Tom, Sawyer playin' it at the gig last night......it was 21:12... OK i'll shut up!
14. I have this fretless and I have Elixir 45/105 coated strings on mine, expensive but last ages, seem to be kind to the fretboard too. Sound good IMO.
15. hi there, I was thinking about changing the pick up covers on a precision copy i'm fixing up, so, do the covers just come off once you take the screws out, does the pick up and pole pieces stay in place? The bass sounds pretty good so I don't want to wreck the pick up, also what colour p/up cover would look best on a sunburst body with mint green plate, R/W neck? I was thinking of white or ivory colour p/up cover. thanks for any opinions/advice. Nick.
16. Played the basic standard model at a shop recently, was impressed, nice bass for less than £200, not the sig model but same specs I believe.
17. Sold a neck to Jon, absolute pleasure to deal with, great comms, highly recomended. Thanks.
18.
If you look at the search bar/button at the top of the page - the text changes from "Forums" on the homepage to "This Forum" when you have entetred one of the sub forums and "This Topic" when you enter a thread
thanks for that Buddy, just couldn't see it, cheers, Nick
19. Probably me being stupid, but where is the search facility that was at the bottom of the page on each forum?
