2. For sale, a pair of P - Bass Chrome Knurled Control Knobs Push on type. As-new condition, Push on type. Nice crisp knurling, nice chrome, £5 inc p+p STRINGS ARE NOW SOLD A Set of new in the packet Roberts Pro series strings, This is a 5 string set with an extra B string as the last set I used went on a 4 string bass hence the spare B string. In guages, 0.45 - 0.65 - 0.80 - .100 & 2 x .125 classed on the packet as light rock guage. Long Scale. Now I bought about 5 sets of these strings on recommendation from other players who were using these strings in preference to another brand also beginning with 'R' who people said were having quallity issues a few years ago and they are good strings. This is the last set I have but I now only use D'addario and Status flats so these may as well be sold for someone who uses roundwounds. Price; £10 inc p+p at this price good for a 4 string and sell the two B strings on. Thanks very much.
3.
For some reason LZ always seem to ramble on (ahem!) excessively. The rhythm section are obviously superb in their own way, but the music seems to get bogged down in itself (apart from the shorter numbers) Now Black Sabbath, on the other hand.... Are simply superb. Not all the material is good, and I tend to regard the first six albums with the original line-up as best; Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of reality, Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage. And when they were "on-song", they were awesome. I think part of the appeal of Sabbath (for me) was the darker outlook, surely a product of their collective upbringing in and around Aston/Birmingham. by contrast, Zeppelin seemed altogether less disenchanted and more affluent. Led Zep - Woaaaah! My lady done left me (again) Black Sabbath - Songs about War, death, religion, politics, the future, the past, and (unsurprisingly) substance abuse.
although I like some LZ, this post re. BS is my opinion as well. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage are awesome albums, IMO of course.
4. Just done the same thing on my CV Precision, I use the same guage as you in roundwounds. I put a set of Status HotWire flats on it in guages 40-60-80-100 and didn't have to adjust the bass at all. Heres a link; http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html Good price too. HTH, Nick
5. This is nice although it's active; http://basschat.co.uk/topic/170820-fs-squier-jazz-deluxe-5-string-l200/
6. Squier Precision or Jazz 5 or a Yamaha BB415 or 615 or if your lucky a nice OLP Tony Levin 5.
7. I got the free DVD from the bands website and have to say i'm very, very impressed. 'Pigs' and 'Echoes' are awesome so will deffo be going to see they're show. Thanks to basschatters for recommening them and a big thanks to Brit Floyd for the DVD.
8. i've got one, it's a Matt Freeman one in black, when I bought it I tried it against a usa P, this one, http://www.wunjoguit...-precision-bass and to be honest the difference was very little except it was £450 less, if you want a P on a budget you'll strugle to get better value than a CV, IMO.
9. I see Line6 400 series heads and combo's are going for a bargain price right now, has anybody got either of them or used/heard them, any views & opinions?
10. IMO 99% of the audience won't know or won't care what it says on the headstock, the other 1%, bass players and musicians judge you on your sound and your playing. Play a Squier with pride. I saw a band about a month ago, bassist was using a Fender Jazz (USA I think), for a couple of songs he changed to what looked to me to be a Westfield Precision copy, thing was, nobody to my knowledge noticed (same colour basses) and more importantly they both sounded good.
11. We should start a Basschat 'Animals' THE best PF album club. Always dissapointed when most tribute bands ignore this great masterpiece!
12.
Animals is far & away my favourite Floyd album.
+1,000,000 Animals by far my fav too.
13.
Not sure how I would pack it, the bulk of the hard case means l can't use a regular bass cardboard box, I wouldn't like to just whack a label on the case and send it as is. I'm happy to hang on for a while to see if anyone nearby wants it, if it doesn't go in a few weeks I'll look into postage options.
For a perfect cardboard box to fit round a bass case, go to Halfords or any cycle shop, they will probably give you a box.
14. Anybody seen Brit Floyd, if so what are they like? I've seen 5 or 6 different Floyd tributes inc Australian PF, some were outstanding, some were OK, but I just noticed the price of a ticket to see BF is £27.50!! I was shocked at that price or are they that good or am I out of touch? I've just bought a Glenn Hughes ticket for may this year for £20 and I can't remember how much Black Country Communion last year was but I don't think it was too pricey. Any thoughts guys?
15. Dave bought 4 fender tuners from me. Smooth transaction, good communications, pleasure to deal with. Great bloke, wouldn't hesitate to deal with again, cheers.
16. Vintage Icon VJ96 fretless, superb for just over £200, even less used.
17. I've got the same cb100 amp as you, using a CV precision with it and mine sounds superb. There are loads of different settings on this amp and what works in a loud practice may not be the settings to work in a quiet practice at home. I would say have a good fiddle about before regretting buying this particular amp. Also a reasonable set of headphones is fine, I got a Sony pair for about £18. As a side issue though, I bought an Ashdown Tourbus 15 for quiet practice just for its small size and lightweight, it can stay in the living room and is very easy to pop in the car for a jam at a friends house, this amp was a bargain IMO (£60) and I think it sounds very good, much better than other 15 watt amp I tried. Good luck.
18. welcome Nige, Cort are great basses, i've had 2 in the past, very well made and good value for money. The downside with Corts if buying new is the poor resale value if you ever fancy a change, but this also means you can get a bargain Cort pre-owned. I don't know what makes that particular bass a 'Ltd' maybe better wood/ electrics/ fittings than standard model or it could just be a name. Not to be confussed with the LTD make basses which I think are buget basses made by the ESP company. Confusing? do some searches on here for particular basses and there is loads of info, also guys and girls on here are great, theres some real knowledge and just about any question you ask will get answered, one big friendly bass family.

20. cheers B, just the info i needed guys.
21. not sure what section to post this in, so if i'm in wrong one sorry; I want to try Status hotwire flats on a Precision, do I need medium scale or long scale, wasn't sure as some Stutus's are probably 35'' scale. Also if anyone has used these strings on a P that can answer the question, what in your opinion is your preference between 40 - 100 and 45 - 105 sets? thanks for any help.
