1. My solution; get a BBOT baseplate and source some Squier CV P or jazz saddles and screws (they come in chrome or brass) depending on what CV they came from, 20mm spacing. Fit it all together, bingo, BBOT with 20mm spacing. HTH.
2. He's doing a tort one for me right now, top bloke.
3. Sold a control plate to Paul, great comms. paid quickly a great bloke to trade with 5*
4. As in the tittle...... these flats are 40-60-80-100 guage. I use these flats on one of my P basses in a reggae band and love the feel, sound, tension of them, and they last for ages. I have just bought another set same guage about a month ago and put them on another P as a back-up, unfortunately the band has split and we've moved in a different musical direction, so I don't need a back-up with flats anymore. They cost £21.59 with the postage, and have been used for max an hour, so I would like £16 for them posted as they are almost new,....... a cheep and easy way to try flats! Here's a link to them and don't forget they are cut for a 34in in line head bass. Thanks NOW SOLD http://www.status-gr...index_home.html
5. Anybody know where to get a not too expensive nice Torty scratchplate for a Mexican Jazz? I tried one from ebay (£13) but it didn't fit very well, also cheap ones seem to be naff looking Tort, I want one with nice Tort if possible, any idea's? Also am I right in thinking standard Mex & standard USA are the same screw position and same neck cut out / control plate cut out? cheers for any help. Nick.

8.
I bought a Tort from this guy & it fitted my Fender Mexican P very nicely, so for £12.95 I'd say they're fine/good deal/bargain. http://www.ebay.co.u...4#ht_1655wt_754 I got a custom made for my '51 P from 'The Bass Doc' as discreet above has said, if you want perfection - send Howard a PM, if you just want a scratch plate try the ebay link, they fit MiM's fine IMO, if yours is not a Fender - I dunno, sometimes the routing is different. Cheerz, john
hi John, i'm after a nice tort plate, I see you got a plate from this eBay seller, what was the tort like?.....some tort plates look naf and uncovincing, yet some look great, i'm also considering the red/black marble. The Squier CV tort plates are not very nice IMO. cheers Nick BTW this looks nice tort http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2364/cmfbjb.jpg
9.
I've owned both of these (still own the US '75 reissue) and while the US bass is better built, has better hardware, superior pickups, is lighter in weight, is better balanced, has nicer body wood, has a far better feeling neck and frets, sounds better (subjective), has real neck inlays not painted ones, is finished to a higher standard and comes with a nice vintage hardcase, chrome pickup covers, (not fitted) and all the usual US case candy..............I still don't think it's worth about £1400 more than the Squier. Both are good bass guitars and I thoroughly recommend the Squier - excellent basses for a bargain price. Frank.
not an expert but, I thought the Squier VMJ had real neck inlays.
10. I would try 'plasticweld' (or similar) a liquid glue available from hobby/model shops and applied with a small modellers paint brush. IMO I would probably join the plate together with masking tape on the front, then paint the glue in carefully from the back. When the glue has taken hold (a minute or two) place a piece of wood sheet on the plate to hold it flat and leave for 24 hours, then peel the tape off the front and you should have an invisble join. HTH's. heres a link to the stuff; http://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/plastic-weld-polystyrene-cement-glue-plastic-weld-ppc-2.html?utm_source=googleps
11. keep at it, I played for years with only a pick, had a break for a few years, got back into playing ....using fingers, don't know exactly why, just did. That was five years ago, now some songs we play require a pick and I find it hard to play with a pick but I am sticking with it.
12. cheers for that, will order a set
13. gee that was quick, thanks.....no probs with customs?
14. I notice the Lakland flats have quite a few fans on here, where do you buy them from? If direct from Lakland is it an easy process re. customs/exchange rate etc? cheers.
15.
What gauge are your Status Hotwires? They´re HotWire Flats right?
sorry only just read this.....yeah flats, 40-60-80-100
16.
As far as I'm aware you only need to play the right notes at the right time to be a useful musician. I'd hardly say that Roger Waters failed to do that! Just because he's not a natural bassplayer doesn't make him poor or bad at it, it just means that he lacks a certain showmanship on it. But imagine if Entwistle ended up playing for Pink Floyd! How different they would have been! Truckstop Ps, I also like U2 and I think that Adam Clayton is a great pop bassist. The rhythm in 'Still Haven't Found...' makes that song and, live, his playing really adds so much meat to the songs. Also, I never heard him make a mistake, and I've seen U2 six times!
I actually think this comment is bang on.
17. I have briefly played one (about 20 mins) and was impressed, infact would have prob bought it if I didn't already have enough basses or had more money. Love the colour but agree about the vintage tint & no blocks comment above, IMO.
18. Hi Simon, Heres mine, for the money it's excellent, as good a fit and finish as any other Fender i've played, as for the sound, think more of a bigger jazz sound and the front pickup is similar to a precision IMO. Great for rock.
19. my vintage icon.....love it
20. If it was sent 'Special Delivery' it would have had a time limit ie. 24h /48h etc. If it didn't arrive at the destination within that time, you probably could have claimed for it being 'lost' after 15 working days.
21.
I hate sky,so I have to do without.May get friend to record it when it's repeated
Anyone know off hand when it is repeated? cheers
