1. Lets hope it not just some old junk and someone cashing in. Fingers crossed that there is some interesting stuff to be released.
2. Re: Rythym stick. I have found if i try to play the double 16ths i fall behind, but if i play an 8th instead, its much easier, and if i play it on top of the backing track it sounds 95% the same anyway. Still trying though.
3. I think the Mods, who maintain the site for free, have enough on their plate as is. Frankly a guitar section would swamp us with idiots, and many old established members would get peed of and move on to some more Stalinist forum like Talkbass. Simply because it has no guitar section. Hell if it were up to me I wouldnt even let six string so called basisits in here. Bloody wierdo's, cluttering up the bass lanes with their two extra strings (Do i really need an emoticon here?) Seriously, If it aint broke dont try to fix it. End of.
4.
One day we will have a BC stand at the show. Probably just Nellie tied to a few kegs of beer and a half arsed logo sprayed on the wall. There might be some chairs.
Chairs, eh?
5. When i went to my first BassDay at Manchester in 2010, he was standing at the Rotosound stand almost the entire day, signing cds and posters, basses, hats etc etc. I saw him stand for hundreds of photos and smile for them all. He spoke politely to everyone who came up and looked interested in what they had to say. I saw him notice a few young fans who had been hovering nervously at the back clutching cameras and cds. He noticed them and went up to them and asked if they wanted a picture with him while he signed their stuff. Genuinely nice bloke.
6. Any pictures of this heroic old bass ? Graphite necks may be the way to go. ps: Have you had a close look at the neck pocket/shims and trussrod etc ?
7. West Staines Massiv. Aight?
8.
What file extension do the samples have?
.rfl file extension
9. I have found a disc with 500 mb of 'electric bass samples' on it. I would love to have them to mess about with, but cant open them. I have a vague memory of actually having a copy of Reason somewhere, but i fear it either went in the big bedroom clear out of of 2011 or has been mis-labled, as i cant find it. !! Does anyone know if there Is any free bit of software or shareware will open them ? Audacity wont do it. EDIT: just found out Audacity does sort of open it, as one massive 500 mb file that if stuffs into one 22 second sample!! (its supposed to be 16 seperate files) then it proceeces to lock up! If it doesent lock up all i hear is warbling high speed gibberish. So still looking for an answer.
10. Looks nice. (<--- Understatement of the year and we are only one day in) If i ever have a spare few grand I would like to get some quality parts together, and ask him to put together one for me.
11. Yes folks they have actually come up with a good issue. with several well reaseached well written articles. Chris Squire is in it and gives a few pages on his 1964 Rickenbacker 4001 and how he customized it over the years. Tony Levin is interviewed. There is a decent review of the new Hiwatt Amp and cab, the Krist Novoselic Gibson bass. Also a fine review of the Will Lee model Sadowsky bass. As well as a chat with famed Exeter luthier Hugh Manson, who takes us through how he and his brother got started in the business, which i found most excellant to read. Lots of other stuff of course. Along with the usual matter, such as tutorials etc. All this and considering that last months mag' was not bad either. Have they actually turned the corner and started to produde a decent bass magazine ? I must admit that for the last 6 months i had stopped buying it, as I was sick of reading either about some young Mr nobody who was in a music acadamy and was going to be the next big thing, (month after month from the same institution!) or poorly written reviews which made me wonder sometimes if they had actually ever had the bass in their hands at all? Last months mag with Primus bass master Les Claypool on the cover, meant that I stood in WHSmiths for 20 minutes and read through a few dozen pages, and almost paid for it. This month I flicked through it and thought id give them the benefit of the doubt and pay for it, as it also looked to have improved. Lets hope the higher standard is retained.
12.
It was clearly an OLP that had the headstock logo changed. He told the shop it was a fake and they didn't do a thing. It turns out they thought it was genuine and paid more than they should and didn't want to lose out. Maybe the shop the OP went to experienced similar ?
This is disgraceful. If the store got ripped off then they should have the grace to take the hit and learn the lesson. Which of course is: if you dont look before you leap (or look over before you buy) then if you get caught with a duff item then its just tough. Describe it honestly, sell it on and learn the lesson.
13. I really think you should name the music shop it was in. To lessen the chance of a basschat member buying it.
14.
Chrome is warning me from entering the site: "scottsbasslessons.com contains content from rod.gs , a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site." Anyone else getting the same warning?
I have tried it with Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome, non of them flagged up any problems.
15. There are all sorts of nuts, even at the size of specifically 12mm. I must have thousands of them, any chance of some more information ?
16. As Iggy Pop said. "Head On!" Headless basses should get back to where they once belonged. ie: In the 1980s with those horrendous keyboard on a guitar strap contraptions and other assorted anachronisms such as boomboxes the size of a wardrobe to carry high on the shoulder.. Headless basses just look wrong!
17.
Was the bass plugged into the amp at the time?
A very good question that is often overlooked, as people often dont try to turn on amp/speakers without having anything plugged in. Which could possibly eliminate bass and leads as a source of unwanted noise, straight off the bat.
18. If you are unsure then leave it. Almost certainly another one WILL be along shortly.

21.
Theme from jason king is better laurie johnson did this as well.
Surely that was by Geoff Love & orchestra and very pedestrian effort compared to the Department S theme which itself was not IMHO as good as the original avengers theme
22.
this is how i play it too brilliant tune.
what about the bit at around 50 seconds where it moves up the scale for several bars ?
23.
Maybe but it sounds in tune with the song, they might have all tuned to an off tuned piano, or it might have been rerecorded at a slightly lower speed, apparently that was quite common with in the old days of tape.
It was recorded by the Laurie Johnson Orchestra, who were one of the worlds top orchestras of the time for recording all sorts of theme tunes and film scores. Here is one of his many albums
24.
That's tuned about 40 cents flat, tune about as low as your tuner will go and still be the same note and it should sound more or less right.
maybe it was played on a fretless bass or a double bass ?
25. Another in my series of impossible to find bass tabs/notation/anything! here is The New Avengers theme music it starts at around 30 seconds in. Listen to it its pretty cool and definately imposible to find any way of finding out the bass line for a non reader like me. I have tried my best at picking the bass out by ear and cant get anywhere near it. Can anyone help ?
