Did you know that WD-40 isn't patented & has "Secret" ingredients?
Yes there was a big fuss a while back when people claimed that WD40 had silicone in it and was responsible for ruining finishes in car spray shops. (As anyone who takes any silicone based sprays into some high end spray shops gets instant dismissal. So deadly are the fine silicone dropletts to paint finishes) WD40 would not say what was in their product, but they did state under oath or by affidavit, that Silicone was not an ingredient. I have heard that some sort of fish oil goes into it though. ?

Build one of these for now. This is one of our own forum members by the way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZWc6SKAE5c

The site has calmed down now, from being a buggy nuisance, yes definately. I tell you what hasnt gone. Its that pain in the arse update of server between 2 - 3 am everyday of the week. The forum just locks up and 404s are all you get for an hour. Our North American* cousins must just love that eveynight as they try to log in or browse. Quite appart from it being a monumental mither, it must be loosing thousands of potential forum browsers and advertising click revenue every night. Other sites dont have this bother. Cant something be done about it ? * I say North American, merely as i dont seem to recal too many south Americans here ?

I wouldn't worry about it. If you are trying to span the frets and cant, then go further up the neck where the frets are smaller. Or do what i do, which is dont worry about it and just use three fingers for the wider frets. I have small hands which wont span no matter what i do, and it would be dangerous to try and force them to. Its no big deal. As you become more dextrous, and if you keep practicing, it wont matter I assure you.

I think the chester Hangman has a jam night on a Sunday and thursday (why always a thursday ?) Or at least it used to. According to its website there is one on this week. EDIT: Bloody hell Strike those Chester pubs from consideration. Just had a pipe at the map. Seems he's miles away in the middle of nowhere. Nearer to Anglesea than Wrexham never mind Chester (which is in England and 50 miles away!) I know of nowhere to jam, that far out from civilisation. I can remember when that area was 'Dry' on a Sunday when i was young. Its inhuman, I tells ya.
The Zinc sounds OK, simple test - spray some on a test piece of wood - when dry put a Ohm meter probes on it & see if you have conductivity through the 'paint'. If you do I can't see it being any worse than special conductive paint you might buy for the job.
Good thinking Batman

I am planning to screen the pickup cavity of my Farida bass. I know i can buy some copper paint. Or can i use what i already have. ie: 1/ A can of silver 'aluminium' paint. or 2/ a spray can of a thing called 'weld through primer'. It does what it implies. Allows you to weld right through it onto the metal, being as it is rich in tiny flakes of Zinc. (of course this is pertinant only if you are using one of the elctrical welding methods such as MIG/ TIG or Electric Arc.) Would either of those be any good instead of copper paint ?

Here is a snap ,of mine 'in situ' This is my Farida which is 46 inches long (or 34" scale length) exactly same as the Squier Classic Vibe Jazz. Its a snug fit, yours should be ok if its only 3 inches shorter. The gig bag wont allow it to rattle around. I doubt it will move at all unless you carry it upside down. Though even then it'll only move a few inches. If you buy one locally you could even take your Mustang along to try it (unless there is one in the shop) I shouldnt think there will be any problems.
-
Well it fits my Squier CV jazz which is 34 inch scale length, and my Farida bases, so if a Mustang is smaller by a few inches, im sure it would fit. what size is a mustang is it 30" ? Edit: have just checked, i cant see any reason a mustang wouldnt fit ?
-
I put my Mustang in a locked garage. . I'll get me overalls. PS: No seriously now, I found the TGI gig bag great quality with 30mm (well over an inch) of padding, three pockets , two way zips, front and side carry handle and straps to tote on your back, also good value for money. It was under £30 where i got it from. If you can find one locally obviously you can save on p&p. http://www.bem-music...st.pl?id=113288
Sorry you missed us, Daz - I will ensure I give you more notice next time!
Yeah. see you next year. same time same place No problem, im just pissed off and rather puzzled as to why i never noticed your post before Sunday night. I always start first on the 'view new content' section, and at the moment i am logging in twice a day. So i must have looked at the forum at least twice since your opening post was there. -
If you want to try them on the cheap then I would agree that Status flats are worth a go - very old school sound.
My own CV jazz has Rotosound flats on them and sounds fine. I think it was those Status flats that were recomended to me by Steve_Soar. Are they any good? I dont recal seeing them anywhere.

I have only just this this hour noticed this thread(9pm Sunday). So i thought might as well go along being as its only 300 yards from my house, it'd be lazy and churlish if i didnt. Not to mention that I could at last get a hear of one of those Barefaced cabs, and have a chinwag with its owner now that the 'Barefaced Tour' has been stopped for some reason. (I have no idea what a Zoot chaser is though ?) So at 9pm tonight I walked in and it was dead as a door nail, aha i thought, this is the worlds quietest and smallest band, being as i could neither hear nor see them. That must be their thing. ? Only then did i see a sign on the wall saying the band was on the 3rd. ie last night!. Sigh! The thing that pissed me off most was the horrendous costage. Unfortunately I had by habit asked for a pint as i walked in. So I was stuck for paying £3.10 for a pint of cider, when I usually pay that for 4 cans at Sainsburys! I seem to vaguely remember a similar mistake of some sort. Of turning up on the wrong night, just like this, happening not long after I first joined this forum. Maybe i am doomed to never see another Forum members band ? Edit: I have been racking my brains and i honestly think i did do this exact identical daft trick, last year at the same pub ?! Unless I am in some sort of awful time loop. Although that could explain why I keep getting slowly better, then all of a sudden seem to be back to not being able to play a note again. Never mind know what the difference betwwen Eb and D# is ? I didnt even find Groundhog Day very funny. Hold on, Didnt Bill Murray use the time to become a piano virtuosso ? PS: (If I'm not actually caught in some sort of temporal time loop.) Any chance of maybe a weeks notice next time ? PPS: Anyone seen Punxsutawney Phil ? Ask him any chance of a mild winter? -
There have been lots of Jazz/flats players over the years - Joe Osborn, for example - and as obbm says, when the Jazz was introduced there was no such thing as rounds.
Really ? I always thought flats came after rounds ? Well, a they say. You learn something new every day.

Good question about its relative minor. I think i will do as suggested and just use Eb.

The Scott Devine video on page 44, its apparently a 6 minute video but it keeps cutting out at 45 seconds ?
-
They looked like brick layers in makeup frankly. But they made a few decent singles, i remember them all. Never heard an album of theirs though. Cant even recal any LP covers, which is odd, as like most kids from that early 1970s era, I spent hours every weekend going through the racks in WHSmiths.
Who knew? Certainly not me. Ta for the info
Big Stu is our resident Slade info-storian. He is lucky enough to have known the band many years and as he says, seen them 36 times. Its possible he has even had a play on one of Jim basses. Jims original bass, namely a Gibson EB3, got nicked from John Birch's workshop while in for a repair. So John Birch made him another (better ?) one. Jim also had some sort of tremelo arm bass. I can't remember the exact details.? Im sure Stu can fill us in.

Just been writing out* the major triads, when i noticed this. Why is the major 3rd in the D# triad an F## and not a G ? I know it happens in the A# B# E# major triads too. *(I know they are in plenty of Interweb places ready to print out, but as my old Computer science lecturer used to say "print it out and you'll remember nowt")
