1. CHEERS guys, This is the most playable bass I've ever had. I've got another bass, 75 reissue, and a Fafner amp up for sale. As soon as one sells I'll keep the other two and and use the cash to buy a new ACG. A passive ACG 5'er is my ultimate bass. If nothing sells I'll pur a John East passive set up in this beautiful Gallas. The quality of the ACG's puts factory born basses to shame. You can tell it's been made by one man and not assembled by many.
2. Or trade for an ACG passive 5'er An excellent tone at up to 600watts The on-board compressor is outstanding. Lovely overdrive. Just too big for me. Amp is in Holland. 40GBP for insured delivery.
3. Or trade for a passive Precision. Bass is in Holland and is in excellent condition. Postage 40GBP. This Graft bass has the Filter preamp that is found in the custom range. Some specs: Neck 5 string, 35" scale Bolt on 24 fret Rosewood board zero radius alloy side dots. 3 piece Maple neck with dual action trussrod. Asymmetric neck carve. Body Alder with black limba top Hardware Hipshot bridge Type B spacing 18mm. Gotoh GB7 tuners. ACG Custom FB humbucker. Hipshot string tree. ACG EQ02 3K/S filter preamp Neck relief 0,023mm. Action 2,5mm. Weighs next to nothing.
4. I found a little dint by the bridge side strap lock so this is down to 700GBP. I imported it and recieved it in jan 2011. Exellent condition and all Original parts and Japanese certificates. Both pup covers and gig bag or hard case Postage 40GBP Bass is in Holland. Trade for an ACG passive 5'er.
5. Hi Bagsieb, Do you know what the difference is between these non import models and the 75 reissues Thomann are selling? Quality is probably the answer, but do you have any concrete examples of differences? Stunning looks btw Happy new year, Phil
6. OOPS! Sorry, that neck relief is a typo. It's 0.22mm.
7. Yeah, that's the answer. But to be honest I've never done that before, and I'm happy enough with the setup so as not to want to go into unchartered territory. But it would higher the neck, creating more space between the neck and the saddle. Cheers.
8. Thank you Icastle, I'll see what components I can find on tinternet.
9. Since deciding to work on my technique; I dig in quite hard, I ve also decided to adjust my bass setup. The bass in question is a Fender Jazz '75 Reissue from Japan. The neck relief is 2.2mm when fretting at the 1st and last frets and measuring at the 8th fret. The action is 1.8 mm on the G-string and 1.9mm on the E-string, both measured at the 12 th fret. I can hear the vibration of E,A and D strings against the frets ever so slightly when I decide to dig in, just what the doctor ordered. And I really, really have to dig in to get this effect with the G-string :-/. It won't go any lower because the saddle of the Badass II bridge is maxed out ( or minimalled out ). Other than that I'm really happy with the results. Hopefully the lower action and lighter right-hand technique will give me more stamina and a more dynamic playing style. I also have an ACG Graft Gallas 5'er which I bought secondhand and when I got it the action was remarkably low: if you stared hard enough you could fret a note. Far,far too low for me, but an eye-opener never the less. The first thing I did was to increase the action to my hamfisted playing style, I'll probably set this up over the Christmas hols. I think the Fender Jazz is probably an average setup as far as relief and action goes, how do you guys/gals measure-up? All measurements were taken with feeler gauges.
10. And I just bought the Pickle Pie from Alan. Heres another thumbs up for Alan, a quick and easy deal. Cheers!
11. Hello Richard, If that's a gen2 Compact in good condition and you're willing to split the set I'll take it off your hands.
12. A shame its so far away. Even too far for the family up by the Lake District. Anyway, just replaced the preamp tube( jjecc83) in my Fafner with a Mullard 12AX7 and its sounding really nice. Creamy overdrive, lovely.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBS-Classic-T90-tube-bass-amp-/370960322946 Bit of a trek from Holland though :-(
13. The Hiwatt and the EBS sounded best for me. Anyway, whos gigging a T90 and how is it standing up to live situations? Considering a T90 but dont know if itll be loud enough for big pubs n small clubs without PA support. My only other all valve experience was my old Trace V6, but that was just TOO Loud. It was 300 w. I wish theyd use some kind of standard measurement that meant something.
14. Ill take it off your hands, if youll send it to Holland(much closer than Denmark) I need it to add to my Compact/Midget stack ;-)
15. Thinking about putting a LED in my amp. Here's my half stack. Cheers, Phil.
16. I swapped my bh250 for the bh500 because the bh250 wasnt quite loud enough through my Midget, the bh500 is plenty loud. I rehearsed with the bh500 going through a Midget/Compact stack and it was earth shattering. Managed to get the master up to 4 but was immeadiately confronted by our guitarist. Ill never need all that power.
17. Wow! That really is a beauty.
18. A handy tone pedal, will you be adding graphics/paint to the enclosure? I quite like the aluminium industrial look. I think I'll keep my pedals minimalist as far as paint-jobs go, but I will need to mark the knob functions. Not quite sure how to do that without a proper paint-job and text
19. This is quite some thread, very interesting reading, quite addictive actually. I've got to say that some of the finished products are quite remarkable. I doff my cap to you good sirs. Anyway, after visiting some of the sites you chaps recommended I seem to have slipped and ordered some pedals On their way to not-so-sunny Holland are, a Fat Furry Freak Fuzz, an Acti Boost and a Big Fat Balls Envelope Filter. A bit of hands-on GAS can't be a bad thing, right! They are all full kits, so they shouldn't cause too many problems Just one question, does anyone here use a heat sink ? Spelling edit
