  1. I live in Holland, which is a shame because that's a great price. I am over in England for the hols but thats up north(Cumbria). I regularly use a TraceElliot TwinValve which is 100 or 115W valve amp into 2x12 Trace cabs and its always got plenty of headroom for my liking so I'm confident the CTM100 will be enough through the Barefaced 4x10(2x 210).
  2. I just wanted to desperately keep THAT tone but after BC's wise words I'll take a defferent route. I imagine the ctm100 will have a very similar tone, so i'll be looking out for one on the secondhand market. thanks for steering me away my madness ;-) Phil
  3. Hello Bass Chat, I've been using this rig for rehearsal but it's not quite enough volume gigs. I was thinking of using 2 amps and an ABC with the hope of getting more volume. That would be 2 Ashdown Little Stubby's(30watt valve). One into each 2x10 cab via the ABC box. Ashdown said this is possible but I just wanted to ask if any of you have experience with 2 amps via the ABC. CHEERS PHIL
  4. Should this be moved to the"Show Us Your Bands Playing Live" thread?
  5. Hello Bass Chat, I'd be grateful for some tips for our onstage sound. How's the balance etc. As far as the bass tone goes it's pretty straight forward: P-bass with flats into a Trace valve amp(Twin Valve). The song in the video is played towards the end of the first set. We didn't have a sound guy but did get to check our levels with the first song which was an instrumental. As a side note our drummer moved to sax and our new drummer was playing with us for the 4th time. Cheers. Phil. https://youtu.be/Pb9TcxXSEsI
  6. We don't have our own dedicated sound engineer so thanks for the mic tips. I'll check out Sontronics, M88 and AKG P2.
  7. Aan amp clamp is a great idea to keep the mic placement consistent. I've had it right over the dust cap/dead centre at rehearsals. That's easy enough to remember ever for me. Although that may change with different mics. So the question isn't Should/ can it be done, but Which mics do you prefer/use?
  8. What amazes me is that you can have upwards of 10 or 15 mics on stage; surely one more isn't "a lot of extra effort". The kick has a mic which doesn't overwhelm the mic, PA or front of house with additional LF problems.
  9. Hello Big Red, What I want to Achieve is that the signal the mixing desk gets is a close to the sound I hear coming out of the Barefaced 2x210 as possible. I'm using a Precision with flatwounds going through a Trace Elliot TwinValve into the Barefaced 210's. This is the sound/ tone I've always been looking for and it's perfect for the Stax Soul we play. So the aim is to give the sound engineer what I hear on stage via the mic but also the DI should there be any problems. More often than not we play pubs that can hold a hundred punters max but now and then we get a fair sized gig. We have our stage volume relatively low(our drummer is tame). We always go through the PA. I always find the DI's too fat and bassy and just lacking the character of a mic'ed cab. But I do understand the control/safety they offer an engineer.
  10. I'm researching microphones for mic'ing the bass cab on stage. It's going to be combined with DI. Hope this is in the right place; my searches weren't finding anything, but my wording could have been poor. My budget is £300 max and that's new or used. I've looked and listened online to the usual suspects; Electro voice re320 Shure SM57 Shure sm7b Shure Bèta 52a CAD Audio KBM412 SENHEISER MD421 Sennheiser e602II EvolutionSeries AKG D112 Audio D6 Heil PR40 Beyerdynamic m88 Of these the Beyerdynamic M88 was, surprisingly, my favourite. Simply because it had the least colouring. What are you guys using? And how are you getting on with sound guys with the " I'd like it mic'ed" opinion? Cheers Phil
  11. You can hear the cab in de audio file. We're obviously hobbyists but I like the sound of it in the mix. Recorded one at a time due to Covid restrictions. Plenty of work to do😉
  12. Thanks for the cheap fix Dan Dare; used some foam to block the port and its tightened up the low lows👍.
  13. I got a1153 second hand for 80 quid. It's perfect size but too deep/woolly for my tastes. I've never heard of the plugs. But I think have a search for them.
  14. No ports at the back. And it's small in size. 47cm wide and 35cm deep.
  15. Hello everyone, I think im looking for a sealed 15 inch cab to pair with my combo. The combo is a sealed valve Trace Elliot with a single 15 inch driver. It's slightly underpowered when playing with the band so I want another driver to add volume and was thinking another 15 inch cab would have a similar footprint for stacking. I associate sealed cabs with tighter low end but this is from playing a few decades ago and im not sure I'd that's still the case. The problem is you can't bloody go anywhere to try out gear so im hoping to narrow my search as much as possible b4 ordering anything. Any tips for an 8Ohm15 inch cab with tight lows is what im after. The amp im using is a Twin Valve Cheers Phil
  16. I have an old Elk cab which is missing 2 drivers(12 inch). So I started looking for some replacements. I want to pair it with another cab so it really needs to be 8 ohm total impedance. Which left me looking for either 4 ohm or 16 ohm drivers. I've visited Celestion, Eminence, Fane, Jensen and Beyma but can't find a match. Surely I must be missing something. Which other brands could I visit? Ideally I'm looking for something suited to a sealed cab which leans towards a Motown type tone. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Phil

  18. Ricky, my feeling was that I posted in English - explaining the Dutch post that followed. People chit chatting back and forth in a foreign language is what I would call rude or poor etiquette. Anyway I hope the audio files didn't offend anyone. They are closer to poor etiquette than ant foreign language😉
  19. This is last Thursdays rehearsal. Marshall Superbass-Barefaced 210retro(not sure if I had the right speaker)-sm58 rep_20190718-02-Time is tight 2.mp3 rep_20190718-03-Raise your hand.mp3
  20. I have a recording of last week's rehearsal but it's all very basic. I'm not sure it would be too great for judging the amp tbh. You'd also have to hear through my fairly average playing. Having said thay I'm very happy with the sound.
