1. Why not just use the Di on your mark bass amp ?
2. I have a Vanderkley 212MNT cab too and use it for everything from big to small gigs and home practice ! I agree about getting a 112 Vanderkley if you want a smaller option though , that way you will be getting the tone you are used to in every situation.
3. That mod sounds interesting , would it also half the volume output from the pickup also though ?
4. I've tried a couple of pawn shop mustangs , in fact I have just tried a red one today . Lovely basses but I struggled to get much bite out of them unless playing with a pick , quite a mellow sound. Great to play though and the build and finish was superb. I really wanted to like it more but my p bass is a better fit for my bands I think as I play mainly fingerstyle and can get it to bite a bit more. Funny thing is I still would fancy a mustang !!
5. You can't beat a Precision or a Jazz in my opinion. My vote goes for a Precision though , it''s one bass that can be used for anything. Always works and always sounds good.
6. I see GAK have the pedal version listed at £229....ouch !!
7. If you're wanting quality build , finish and sound quality try the vanderkley 212 , can't fault it .
8. Wooly ? No , try turning some knobs and experimenting a bit. My ABM sounds amazing through the Vanderkley cab. It's the one head I keep going back to and would never sell.
9. My streamliner and vanderkley rig is definitely not scooped , very full and punchy sound. This rig just works so well in the band mix without breaking a sweat .
10. The streamliner is a fantastic amp , if you like it now just leave it alone. From past experience of other amps , I think any differences from changing valves will be very subtle and you probably wouldn't notice in a band mix.
11. I used hartke cabs for 10 years or so , used them with a lm2 for a while too. Always gave me a good sound and never let me down. My xl 4x10 cab will be up for sale soon and will be sorry to see it go but it's really surplus tomy needs at the moment.
12. This article may give some clues as to what drivers are in the cabs. http://www.vanderkley.blogspot.co.uk/2011_11_01_archive.html#7356650490055236796
13. Yep , got a 2112 mnt cab , amazing quality of sounds and build too .
14. I've just recently been playing my old Ashdown evo 300 through my Vanderkley 2112 mnt cab and it's just awesome. This cab really brings the Ashdown to life , so much more depth to the sound that I've not heard in ages from that head. I've had the Ashdown for 10 years now and never wanted to sell it even though I've had a few heads since and now the Vanderkley takes it to another level of tone. I'm very impressed !
15. I found the big low end from the Streamliner coupled with the big low end from the Bergantino was just too much. Through the Vanderkley though things were much better. More definition and punch and a more 3 dimensional sound. To me , the Vanderkley was an easy choice to make once i had compared it to other cabs.
16. The streamliner and Vanderkley combination is awesome. Those cabs are fantastic and guaranteed to put a smile on your face !
17.
Cool. I'm sure you'll enjoy playing with them whatever configuration you use. I'm tempted to buy another two and use them with my Ampeg running in stereo but having recently acquired a Barefaced 2x15 I think I need to stop thinking about buying speakers for a while. I have more than enough :-) I meant to add earlier, mine are the 600w MNT model. They have the red fronts. IIRC from when I was looking at them the 300w model are the EXT and have black fronts but I'm sure Mark knows what he's talking about. Perhaps the 300s have red fronts these days.
How does the Barefaced super 15 compare to the Vanderlkley cabs ?
18.
Ever so occasionally an old American Hartke XL will crop on here, and be around £100. Those are the ones to have.
I picked one up a year ago for £130 with a padded cover. Excellent cab.
19. I've had my ABM 300 for 11 years now , I've never thought the fan to be loud and when I'm playing I can't hear it at all.
20. Another vote for the Hartke. I had the Peavey cab , lots of top and bottom but the mid range was a bit lost. Also a massive cab which was a pain to transport. I've been using the Hartke cabs for 10 years now and had no problems with them at all.
21. Pics please !!! We need pics of your ....er....picks......
22. Keep the Markbass and use a Tech21 VT Bass pedal with it , instant Ampeg rock tone.
23. He seems a nice guy with a good sense of humour. I like his attempts at an English accent too , good vid !
24. I've been using Hartke 4x10 and 2x10 cabs together for 10 years now and never had a problem. It's true that the smaller cab works a bit harder but not much more. I've used various heads with these cabs over the years and they have all worked perfectly so I don't think you need worry !
